didnt know that. thought they all sounded differently with different turboed setups and such. well then lets get clips of different BOV on all cars then.

Well, actually thats not entirley true Boiler. Different lbs make different sounds
the HKS SSQV for example, with the same colored insert, sounds much different on a 26 psi Supra then it does onan 8 psi vic. So, in essence, just referring him to BOV.com is kind of a cop out. It only give a "partial" idea as to what itll sound like on a vic (around 8 lbs lol). But then again, every vic at different pressures will sound a tad different. Uusually itll be quiter and not as high pitched the lower psi you go.

The pressure through the valve is many times the boost level. The BOV doesn't dump at 8psi, it dumps at whatever the pressure is after the throttle closes, air backs up and creates more pressure. The volume of air rushing out of it alters the sound... i.e. 3 different turbos with different capacities will make the same valve change slightly, but overall sound is the same. it won't go peep on one car, pshh on the next and woooosh on a third.
Depending on where on the pipe it is, and where its aimed, you'll alter it slightly more relative to the point where the video is being shot from..... you'd have to shoot every video from the same point relative to the outlet cone on the valve to make it uniform, and you'd have to do it with the same car.
In essence, there's nothing wrong with BOV.com, because all you're going to get from a 7thgen video is the same basic concept of whether or not it goes woosh or pshhh.
Then again, I didn't care what it sounds like and I have a $35 BOV that works perfectly well and I don't have to **** around with any adjusting screws or goofy **** to make it work right.

Boiler is a very serious man! That is totaly fine.
I'm getting new digital camera in cople of days, so if I manage to make a little video of a turbo run on my Acura EL, I'll post it.
So, if some has a video of their turdo civic, then post a link here, lets see if anything new comes up.

my hks sounds fine, the only time i've ever heard it any different is on a TT rx-7 because it had two. Otherwise, it has a tendency to flutter when you release the throttle slowly coming out of boost. Contrary to popular belief, this is NOT compressor surge. the HKS has 2 valves, one for low pressure, one for high. Quite frankly, like boiler said it before, BOV's are just $150+ noise makers.
