vibration under the car from the cat

ok, so i installed my megan header and highflow cat last week. it made this horrid vibration under the car when i would start it. it happens at different times. when the car is warm/hot it goes away. i think its the cat/catback point of connection hitting the bottom of the car. can i use a rubber mount to glue up there or something? what is a good way to stop this ****. everything fits fine under the car. help! thanx

Why did you run over the cat?

OK,try loosening all the joints to see if you can "adjust" it a little!

lol. dang. i tried that. it helped. i still need to put something under it. i see no contact when the car is jacked up. so it has to be when its vibrating when the motor is on.

Why haven't you tried running the motor and checking underneath the car where it might be hitting?

Though at the same time, no visible damages to the piping to see where it might be hitting?

My leaning though is the front swaybar where it might be hitting..

Have fun troubleshooting though

not the front sway. car is lowered. little hard to do that with dropped car...and don't really want to start the motor on jackstands. AND when the motor is running EVERYTHING gets hot.

civic_04 is an unknown quantity at this point
When i installed my high flow cat it was also making a clanking noise. Part of the pipe was banging against a heat shield.
I had to take it to a shop so it can be put on a lift, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to see where it was banging on.
It took the guy 5 seconds to find where the problem was, he didnt charge me anything either. All he did was bend the heat shield away from the pipe and it was all good.

Might not be the same problem with you, just a suggestion.

9 times out of ten the eatshield is the culprit. I would either remove it completly or find the spot that sits the closest to your exhaust and bend it away.

gmcuajo can only hope to improve
On mine the car is lowered and it hit on the ground some times. Then it starts to hit the floor where it goes from the left side to the right side of the car (near the shifter is located). As the streets here (in PR) aren't good I need other type of repair. I lift the car many times and pull the pipes, but when it hit ground again start to sound. I think I will replace that part of the pipe with a hose, the hose that is used for boat mufflers.
