the 01-05 are the same under the hood. so an 01 dx has the same tranny as an 04, 05 dx. The engine is exactly the same so I can't see any problems.
Can anyone confirm 100%?

Yea, that's wat I thought. But all this mf keep telling me that its not gona work.Because of the gear ratio's and all that crap. See the bad thing about that is that I brought an 04 tranny with only 11,000 miles on it and i want this one i got....I dont wana waste my money.

i think they are the same gearing. I doubt that should matter much anyway since the tranny controls the shifts according to throttle, rpm, and accelleration/decelleration. I don't think the ECU decides on when to shift

that is pretty true. the parts OTHER than the tranny needed (cables, clutch pedal and lines, shifter, etc) add up to be a lot and its a good amount of work.

The 01-05 auto trannys are all essential the same they all have the same housing and they all bolt up the same the tranny with different gear ratios is the ex it has slightly shorter gear ratios. It’s good that you got an 04 tranny they are supposed to not have problems and supposable they shift smoother
When I blew my auto tranny a couple of weeks ago the best price I found for a used auto tranny with low miles less than 20,000 was $650 so I did an auto to manual swap instead for just over $1000 I did all the install work myself so labor was free. So I kind of know what your going through.

The gear ratios will not matter. Your speedo gear will compensate for the different speeds in each gear, so your speedometer will still read correctly. And the ECU does decide when to shift the tranny, but it does so by RPM and Load, not speed. So you should have nothing to worry about.
Ok, thanks everybody for you feedback. I was worried cause I got really, really good deal. We pulled it out of the car with 11, 000 miles on it. And I paid $350. I was really blessed for that price. Anymore comments would be appreicative
Hello, I wanted to say thanks to all of you guys imput. I finally recieved my car back. And the only problem with that transmission is that when i go thru park to drive the Nuetral like deos not light up green unless its sitting in neutral. Im so happy i convert for 01 tranny to 04

-5spd manual tranny from an ex 30K miles (better gearing that that from a dx, and yes it would work in your dx I garauntee it)
-ACT prolight flywheel 15K miles
-Exeedy clutch 15K miles
-Subframe for a manual tranny car
-engine mounts with urethane inserts
-shifter cables
-Wiring mechanism to make it work with an auto ECU
I can sell all of this for $750 + shipping
you would just need a couple of misc pieces like the master cylinder and fluid bottle, clutch lines (can make your own for $10), axles (exchange your old ones at an autoparts store for new for around $150), manual tranny brake, and clutch pedle.
