tach intallation help (yes i've tried searching)
hey all,
i'm new to the forums and DIYs and i was having some trouble finding the tach signal wire in my '02 civic dx. I've tried reading the DIY and searching around but I can't seem to find anything remotely promising in my car.
Most suggest that it is by the battery and the company that made the tach suggested that it was behind the glovebox. i've looked everywhere and gotten help from people who have done this type of stuff and no one seems to be able to find it!
anyways i know this is probably a very common question but any information whatsoever that might shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

hey, the tach test signal wire that i used is located in a small rubber box behind the passenger side headlight. you should be able to locate it and i believe its the purple wire.
Red-Ignition on
Green-red-tach test signal wire
Black-ground
Blue-headlight-12 volt power source

yes i've tried looking there but i can't find any rubber box.
either i'm completely blind or things are seriously out of place. Oh well, i think i might be able to get a mechanic to show me where it is at no charge (hopefully).

the lil rubber thing is off the big wire pack around the pass. headlight that comes from to the battery, if i recall right. its got a small light blue wire leading to the rubber box thing, which is small. just uncouple that thing and tap there. its there, you just have to search for it.

here's the DIY from this site so i dont know maybe you just suck at searching http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=155253
Thanks everyone! I'll keep looking. I tried going into one of the connectors for the spark plugs and it did give a reading but it read way too low on this tach, although it read too low by a factor of 2 consistently on another diagnostic tach i have which is calibrated for 8 cylinders only so that would explain that. I hope the one i bought will work properly when i find the right wire though.
