open loop?

open loop?

hi. im boosted and switching over to e manage. is it advisable to have my car running open loop all the time? pros and cons? what about the fuel trims? searched an article but dont seems to get the idea. help.

If you run on open loop, the ecu won't compensate for the A/F mixture, so tuning the drivability portion of it might be easier. Problem with open loop is that the car could get much worse gas mileage (sp?) since it's not working with the ideal A/F, you may have some cels, and driveability could be poor. Then again, everything could run fine. No harm in trying. Some people with the e-manage have been finding that tuning closed loop is a nightmare (I think Dezod said it took him weeks)...

iss there no way that an open loop can be street friendly? i mean its god damn tough to tune the close loop and fuel trims over writes the tune. so whats the point?

Yeah I had about 34 hrs of tuning into closed loop and was close to a near perfect scenario, but not 100%. I was on the dyno for bout 6 hours and street tuning the rest.

check out the fuel trim tuning DIY in my sig. It will help you out a lot when it comes to tuning around the fuel trims.

If you can do it correctly, you can have all the economical benefits of closed loop, and all the power benefits of open loop.

jesus. ive read your DIY but have no clue. damn it. i doubt the tuner will appreciate or believe it will work. you know some are such a pain. takes a long time? he wants to make mine working open loop all the way. just wondering
