Shop to do lx to ex head swap?
anyone know of a shop that will do the work for the ex head swap. im currently saving(job not paying enough) to buy a used ex head, gasket, and vafcII. Just wanna know if anyone in nor cal also did this swap? plus will it be legit with smog or not, cuz if not, i might aswell get the ecu and ill have to get the wiring harness.

I am planning on doing the LX to Ex head swap. I have the head and I am going to get an EX ecu so tuning will be easier with my turbo. I don't know if it will be legal to do the swap I think if you do the right paper work it should be legal since its an engine that comes in a version of the civic stock so it should be legal but I am not really sure go to a state ref and ask them.
Also I'm just wondering your all stock why do you want to do an LX to EX head swap? You really won't gain a lot of horsepower for the cost.

1.)I have no clue how much it would cost it depends how much you get everything for if you do the work yourself or if you have a shop do it..
2.)If I don't get an ex ecu its harder to tune because first you have to tune just to get it to run and idle right then you have to tune to make power. Compared to getting an ex ecu then just tuning to make power and i won't have to mess with vtec engagement if i don't want to.
3.) No you can't change the vtec engagement with only the stock ecu you need vafc or emanage to do that.
You do know the vtec on the d17 isn’t true vtec right? The d17 vtec is vtec-e which is more for fuel economy than performance. For the price you won't gain much power. Your better off saving up to buy a turbo kit first then do the head swap after you have the turbo so you can get a turbo cam and the head port and polished. The only reason I am doing the head swap is so I can get a crower turbo cam and get the head port and polished so my car will only be down for a day or two.
