how about a simple B16 swap? HAsport mounts, hondata ecu flash. Its a rather simple install. And 160 hp isnt bad.

i e-mailed a guy at www.teknotik.com, and he recommends dropping in the
D15B engine which is the 92-95 civic si engine, 130 hp, 103 lb/ft of torque... he said that it's almost a direct drop into my car... so that might be the best bet... considering it's $700 canadian... here is the link for it... http://www.teknotik.com/product_sect...disp.php?id=56
would i need the stuff on the right hand side of the page under the optional stuff... even though it says optional, would it be a big + to have???

1997 civic has a D16Y7 stock,, Best bang would be the B18C1(GSR) or the B18C5(Type r) engine. Id say k20 but they are alot of money. B16 is a little cheaper but you dont get the nice TQ that u get from a B18.

if you want a simple direct bolt in, go with a ZC. Theyre 130 hp, and i was able to get them for around $300 US.

well, you would still have to get a tranny and what not. But early (pre 2001) D-series trannys are common as all hell. You can pick them up for $50. Then all you need is the clutch linkage, pedal, and shifter assembly.

If you go with a ZC, i seriously think you could get all the parts for less than $600

well... i sent the list to a guy that swaps engines and says it's better if i buy a new car cuz it will cost so freak'n much... so my options are narrowed down to this... sell my civic i have now for a 92-2000 civic si manual, take my intake, exhaust, and strut bar from my car and swap it to the new one and fix it up from there... secondly, i could keep my grades high, sell my car, and get a 2003-2004 STI impreza... or thirdly, keep my grades high, sell my car, and get a 2006 rsx type-s... i'm kinda leaning towards the STI...

I have a seperate question but................

On a 7th gen civic would it be a good idea to put a 6th gen civic D16 engine.
Since they make a supercharger and turbo charger and all the parts are so much more common and easy to buy.
Just a thought

It is illegal to put an older engine in a newer car, and not very wise in most cases either.

Although you could since you an addapt an older manifold to your car, you may be able to adapt a supercharger to your car, or do what i did lol. K20 SC!

Where is it illegal to put a older motor???
In Texas, it's OK for my 2005 as long as it's OBD-II and engine light does not come ON.
I think it would be Easy and cheap to do such a swap with a Supercharger and since the 05 LX and 1999 EX have the same HP and TQ.....I think!
There wouldn't be much difference........if so then Stoke the D17 motor before putting it in.

it depends on your state. In most states it illegal to put a older motor into a newer car because of emission laws.

Why would you want to swap out a economy engine for another economy engine. Its more worth it to save for a k-series or just get a k20a3 for cheap and turbo that.
