ok, i picked up red paint from autozone yesterday so i can paint stuff.. but first off, do i need to use a fine sandpaper or watever and sand stuff first? and wats the easiest way to cover off the part that says VTEC? just use maskin tape?

AFlyer is an unknown quantity at this point
the easiest way to do things is to first sand it with 400+ grit sandpaper. then spray four or five even coats on the piece. then spray 3 more coats of clear coat, should be the same brand. then you paint the VTEC letters over by hand in whatever color, i did mine in black. check out my ride to see how it turned out. this takes about the course of a night, waiting for coats to dry and everything.

is the clear coat neccesary? read some people just skipped that..

not necessary but it gives a nice finish to your cover. if you do use the clear coat, use it BEFORE you paint the letters. and wait for the cover to dry for 24 hours before you paint the letters as well. i didn't, and it screwed up my paint, i had to start all over again.
