i thought they were built into the transmission? Doesnt it have a block in the shift gates that engages while moving forward to keep you from going into reverse?

Thats how my corvette is anyway

its one wire that goes from the ecu straight into the tranny... if you have a 6speed tranny look on top where the cables go and you will see something that looks like a vtec solenoid...

the only time you really need to worry about not having a reverse lockout is when you go from 5th to 6th gear... but let me look for some stuff and i will let you know unless someone chimes in before i do

okay.. on connector B (24pin) clip

look for pin number 7 on the clip..
it should be a green/white wire

it puts out a + charge... that goes to the vtec solenoid looking thing on the tranny

if you look at the the clip on the tranny it has 2 holes.... if you look at the clip with the tab part of the clip on top then pin1 is on the left and pin2 is on the right..

pin1 - gound
pin2 - postive (to ecu)

isnt that the same thing i said.... but you gotta ground pin1 cause i tried it on my tranny just now and if pin1 isnt grounded it wont engage

also when the car is below 9.4mph the voltage coming out of pin7 is 12v...

with a vehicle speed above 12.5mph voltage will be 0v...

i have the service manual so i can basically lookup almost anything

Whenever i do electrical, i always draw myself diagrams. I was just trying to help visualize what he said.
