Question Heat shield question

What exactly is the purpose of the heat shield (over the header)? I Lost the screws that bolt the sheild on, so was wondering if it affects performance or would the engine be better off without it ? Thanks for lookin

I think its purpose is too reduce the heat put onto the fans and into the engine bay in general and it covers the ugly rust covered stock headers. I don't think it would hurt your car not putting it back on seeing as I have a turbo that generates way more heat than your header would and I havent had any problems. I don't really think it would make a diffrence if you put if on or left it off.

it makes a big difference. not only does the shield keep heat out of the engine bay so the intake air is cooler, it also keeps the exhaust pipes hotter for faster flow rates and better performance.

i think its easy to remove just a few screws/bolts. Make sure you get really high temp paint or it can burn off.
