DC5R Exhaust
DC5R Exhaust
Hi, I know a few members here have a DC5R exhaust. Namely aznboysrf (Derek) and probably a few others. Anyway, I think I'm about to buy one and had a question about piping. Does all new piping have to be made for the exhaust to fit, or will the piping that come with it fit or even modified to fit? If anyone can lead me to any answers, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!
Yeah kornised i think, or someone. I already know where to buy a new one for a good price, so I'd like to know of any problems I might encounter. Thanks man.
By the way, is your car okay now?

the piping is similar but some modifications are needed. the hangers on the muffler need to be changed. it is possible but if your gonna need mods might as well get some custom piping made. Just opinion.
YEs i am selling mine. great muffler

thanks. I checked that site but theres no DC5R exhaust there? BUT I looked on kornsined's ride and i saw it there, it looks liek a stock type-s exhaust. What is the objective of putting one of these on our D17 vics? even the so called hi performance exhausts liek Apex N1 barely add any hp to our cars, maybee 3 if were lucky, so what is the idea behind this?

well it helps some performance out without being too loud. if you got an intake, header, and no cat it helps smooth things out. it's kinda the same as asking what's the point of an rs*r, apexi ws, or greddy sp2 exhaust. they're all the same. loud doesn't = more power. that's what the dc5r muffler is all about. here's another pic:
Clubrsx has a few on sale right now....expect to pay a pretty penny for one. I don't really expect much (if any) performance gains fromt this catback (for now), I just hate the look of our stock exhaust and I want something quiet. This satisfies both of those specifications that I want.

So is this a bolt on without any mod? Is this a full replacement for our exhaust system? Any of you guys got a sound clip? I have the RSR and Im wondering if this is more quiet?
no, mods are required. please read previous posts. as for sound, i think it's close to the rsr. i have a megan cat, 2.25" piping w/ a baffle resonator and it's stock quiet with a bassier note. intake is louder than this.

the piping is way too short!
You don't need to hack the axle back or change the hangers. All you need to do is to extend the the pipes a bit up front and the tail, like I did. In my case, I have a non-vtec engine which has a cat located with the exhaust manifold, so I extended the pipe all the way to the front and about 8 inches in the tail pipe. If you compare to a RSR it's basically the same but with a resonator. Also, least mine it's as quiet as the stock one. It has bigger pipe but also bigger muffler and resonator. You can see the differences in pipe length of the pipes in some of the pictures I'm attaching. You can also see some of the pics in my members gallery.

well extending the tail pipe on the dc5r exhaust would make it look stupid IMO. for your paticular muffler it worked but i don't think it can be done with this one we're talking about.

also, the muffler you used was from the 02-04 RSX-S, not the 05+ RSX-S/Type R
Ghetto or not, the muffler is in the exact same position as the stock one, which also has a extended tailpipe from factory. Everything was in the place where they should go, but like you must know, the RSX is shorter than the Civic, hence the longer tailpipe. If you prefer, you can extend the pipe in the other side of the muffler and relocate the hangers to make the muffler hang closer to the bumper like in the RSX.
Also, it doesn't matter which muffler I used, the only external difference is the tip on both models, the layout and flow path it's the same. I was just showing you that it can be adapted with minimal modifications. You can do it other ways if you want better looks.
