Need help bad with progress sway bar, broke tie rod!
Alright guys I just got my new progress sway bar on my '02 coupe installed. I went riding tonight heard a very loud pop when I turned onto a road from a stop sign. After that I hit a big bump and bam bam bam all these slamming noise in the rear. I looked with a flash light when I got home and one of my end links snapped. The sway bar was smashing into the lower control arms. I dont know what went wrong but the car was extremely rigid in the rear. It wasnt riding smooth like it used too. The end link instead of sitting straight up and down like with the factory were stretched all the way towards the front of the car as far as they would go. I dont know what I did wrong could someone please help me in fixing this. Have you guys replaced your stock end links with other ones when installing the progress sway bar?
Or did I install it wrong?
Thanks for your help in advance, I really need to get my car fixed so I can drive it to work.

Wait, your TIE ROD broke after installing a Progress sway bar? I don't see how that could happen. If your tie rod snapped you'd have a hell of a time trying to turn. Can I assume that you bought the Progress REAR sway bar? Is it your ENDLINK that snapped? If it is, just buy Grey's endlinks. Problem solved. Here's the link.

sell the bar, buy the 05 RSX-S 21, the Type R 22 or the Comptech 22 (its an ITR copy).
There's a flaw in the design of the progress bar that causes this. no one else with any other bar has endlink issues with this kind of regularity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Grey has been running the Progress rear sway bar for a few years now with his endlinks. They have held up fine. From a cost point-of-view, buying Grey's endlinks will be cheaper than getting the Comptech/RSX rear sway bar. The cheapest I've seen the RSX 21mm bar on this site was about $60-$80 (Not exactly sure, but a seller had it selling for around this price about a week or two ago). Plus, you'd still have to buy one stock endlink. While I'm sure that one endlink won't cost much, I think it would still be easier to just go ahead and buy the endlinks from Grey.
If money's not an issue, buy the Comptech/RSX bar. I have the Comptech one, great bar.

Having never seen grey's endlinks in person, I can't speak for them, but they don't have rubber boots on them, so the ball joints will rust up on you.
Yeah I see what your saying. I just really would like too fix the one I have now. If its possible? Instead of dealing with sending it back and trying to get another one. I dont know what the best solution is here?

You can't fix the bar. Its the length of the arms and the way its bent that overstretch the ball joints in the end link when the suspension moves. Cutting and welding it would ruin the structural integrity of the bar.
The only solution is to lose it.
Grey's links mask the issue by being adjustable length so you can make them fit.

to answer your question, yes, Grey's endlinks will solve your delimma. Grey's endlinks are stronger than our stock endlinks. this would be your quickest and cheapest fix. having endlinks break with a stronger sway bar is not uncommon, it happens all the time.
Thanks guys, I ordered them yesterday. Hopefully, they'll be here soon. I havent gotten a response from grey yet. Except for him to say that they will fix it. You guys are great. Grey thanks for helping us all out man.
