Noises, what to replace on stock suspension? (100km)

I really hate winter....

Just recently my front passenger speaker (stock) on my 2001 EL started farting sounds on music with ANY bass at all... When it warmed up, it was gone! Now that we're heading into a bit of a colder weather, its gone all farty again....

The car's got about 110km on it now, has always been parked outside, which means the weather has had a good chance to mess with it.....

The suspension is shot - anytime I go over any kind of bump, you hear it, an feel it. What would it take to get this baby back to "stock" form?

More than likely I will be changing the stock struts (front and back) to KYBs or something....

All front suspension bushings? Springs?? (replace with stock...?!) ?? With all of these problems I'm looking to fix to a suitable grade, and then trade her in. This baby is just giving me too many problems....

If you guys say Acura/Honda is QUALITY, I'd really hate to see what domestic "quality" really is....

I'm at 112K and I haven't replaced $hit on my vic. My springs make all kinds of popping and creaking noises. I just turn up my music louder. You shouldn't need to replace your struts unless your car bounces alot when you go over bumps. A good test for this is when you leave a driveway with a little bit of a drop where it meets the road. If the car bounces more than one and a half times when you go over the bump (make sure you hit it square on) chances are your struts need to be replaced. you will also have a hard time cornering because the wheels keep bouncing/skipping when preasure is applied to one side or the other.

As far as your speakers go, a wire might have come loose, take your pannel off and take a look. if it sounds like your speaker is vibrating upon base hits than it's blown ... time for new speakers!

Good luck with that!

If you are just looking to trade it in, I'd take it somewhere and get it inspected to find out exactly what is wrong. Based on that, you can then replace what ever needs to replaced. You might also try trading it in as it is now and see what they give you. If the noises are just caused by minor problems, they likely won't affect trade-in value all that much anyways.

are you running stock shocks and springs? it is very unusual for a car to need it's suspension replaced after only 110,000 kms(especially a honda!) unless of course you like to emulate the driving in 2fast2furious on a daily basis... LOL! my buddy has a 1994 accord that he bought brand new back in the day that's still running on the original suspension with over 180,000 kms and it's still going strong.

my suggestion, if you are going to go aftermarket struts, would be tokico hp's. they are about $115 per side. still cheaper than if you were to go oem and they are gas charged, unlike oems. your oem springs should be fine at only 110k.
