So did my transmission REALLY die? I THINK NOT!!

I'm driving to school and for some reason shifting feels funny. After a minute I go for third and nothing is there. I go for fifth. Nothing. Second and fourth work. WTF? So I go to class preying I'll be able to make it home. My transmissions been on the way out for awhile so I figured it finally gave up the ghost. Well on the way home I'm able to get it in first at a light so something seemed inconsistant. I make it home and look at the shifter cables and notice that a clip that holds one of the shifter cables on, popped off. Easy fix. Damn part number 8! It's a fricken 2 dollar part!
