1. put electrical tape on the back side of the surround.
2. lay some silicone down on the rip

that or get clear automotive goop ... and goober ( by goober i mean alot ) on the back side and do it lightly on the front ... i ripped my old 12 when i putting the amp on the top of the box to sit it there so i could open my back seat .... it worked fine and i ended up selling it that way too...

i had 3 12's in my 01 ex coupe ... then i switched to 2 even louder 12's ... same amp ... but its more efficient at 1 ohm .... hehe

3 12's = 143.2 DB
2 12's = 147.7 DB .... same amp just the 3 were at 2.67 ohm vs the 2 at 1 ohm ... i am currently in the process of removing my interior and installing Dynamat ... the trunk (Everywhere) , interior on the underside of the carpet , headliner and everywhere on the back side of plastic dash pieces , bottom of the lower portion of the seat , removal of the entire front dash to dynamat and to sand it down and then paint it black ... my car is gonna be UBER clean ( by clean i mean bad *** looking and clean ) then its gonna be uber sound proof.... i got the spray on dynamat already in the trunk then gonna double layer it in the trunk ...

also here in the winter i plan to remove the whole undercarriage of the car to get a light coat of black rhino liner on it to help prevent rust ... re doing of the suspension to the DC5 ( rsx ) suspension , new fuel rails and lines , steel brake lines , wheels , body repair and still going rock the D17 until i get some more cash for the K20A2 ... ( ya i know i should use the dynamat money for the k20 but i much rather do it this way and have a nice clean ride )

sorry about the off topic here .. im just tired and VERY VERY VERY BOREd... ill take a massive amount of pics and junk and post em up as each particular task gets completed ... and dont worry i am gonna store em on my yahoo briefcase , hard drive, car domain , and my pals comp to ensure i always have the pics plus the receipts for it all ... i plan to keep my EM2 for as long as possible ... she'll be a black shiny beauty with the cleanliness of the highest end cars ... lol .. armor all and black turtle wax will be my pals to keeping her up ...

If you "goober" the back side of the surround, its going to throw the balance of the cone off and hamper performance. It would be much better to purchase a refoam kit for the surround. I did it to my 15 year old cerwin vega home speakers and they sound like new again.
