I went to the track (Qualcomm Stadium) last night for the first time since my engine swap. This track holds 1/8 mile events. It was my third time overall drag racing (twice at Qualcomm and once at California Speedway). I left pretty disappointed / discourage. I ran 5 times. For the first three runs my front tires were at 25 psi and I launched around 4K. I spun my tires to redline through both first and second gear.
For the last two runs my front tires were at 22 psi and I launched around 3K. Again I spun my tires to redline in first and half-way through second gear.
My 5th run was the best overall. Here are the stats:
R/T: 1.242
60': 2.592
1/8: 10.236
MPH: 74.01
As you can see the only positive stat was my MPH. Here are my overall best stats of the night:
R/T: .738
60': 2.592
1/8: 10.236
MPH: 74.25
I believe the following problems contributed to my poor performance:
1. Lack of experience. I need A LOT more seat time to learn how to properly launch my car.
2. Lack of traction. This is partly attributed to my lack of experience, but also to the overall setup of my car. Although my engine isn't putting down huge numbers, I think the 207whp is too much for the tires I was running (Azenis Sport, 205/15/50). I think a set of BFGoodrich DR would help out a lot. Also, my have coilovers on my car and I haven't touched the settings at all. Based on most feedback received, I should have the rears set on full hard to limit the amount of weight transfer to the rear.
3. Bad A/F ratio. My engine is running extremely rich. I had my car dyno tuned a few months back. At that time I had some custom silicone vacumn hoses and had some problems with them (vacumn leaks). The A/F ratio was tuned to those hoses. Last weekend I installed the OEM vacumn hoses and now the A/F ratio is totally out of whack because I have the proper amount of air going in, but the ECU isn't tuned for the extra air. I am taking my car back to Church's Automotive Testing today to have it re-dyno tuned.
Anyways, that is about it. Any positive feedback is appreciated. Negative (flaming) comments will be reported.

the first time (and only time so far) i went to the drag strip, i put out similar times. on the same tires (different size). but i'm over 30whp shy of where you're at.
tires probably aren't the best choice to drag. but those that are experienced still put down mid-low 14's with the kind of power you have on not great tires.
what i don't see you mention is anything in your trunk. that is going to compound all the other problems you mentioned also. unless you did remove it all before the track.
maybe try launching a little lower for now too. sounds like your tires never really hooked up from the start (and azenis don't squeal very often, esp. if they got a little wet in the water pit). i dislike my azeni's for launching so much, i think i'm switching fronts next season too.

My car is heavy...probably around 2800-2900 lbs. I need to have it weighed to know for sure. I can't use the weight as an excuse though. RSX-S' weigh around 2850, so my car should be able to run similar times as theirs.
Somebody told me yesterday that Azenis are bad for drag racing because of their ultra-stiff sidewalls. I am going to look at getting a set of BFGoodrich DRs and hopefully that will solve my traction issues.

rsx-s is a 61-39 distribution of weight, front to rear. civic ex is 59-41.
so that weight difference of a couple hundred pounds is not distributed the same as it would be in a type s.
you mentioned it before, but i would turn your rear suspension on full stiff too. will help the power transfer (that audio isn't something very easily removed for the strip, i see)

wow that's pretty crazy that you pulled the same exact 60' time as well as the same exact 1/8 mile time haha.
work on the launches! ... but since you have an s2k anyway, I don't see why would you care -too- much about the civic anymore ;P

Regarding the S2000...I don't have it yet. Decided to get an '06. Dealership said it will be in within the next 2 weeks or so. I do care about the Civic though because my wife is getting it, and I will be racing it every once in a while.
