My local performance shop instructed me to not go larger than 2 and quarter......they've been in business tuning imports & domestics for over 15 years....I figure they know better than I do.

oooooo big is good but as for the piping 2.5 should be the max nothing more i have 2.5 for my custom cat
Unless forced induction is in your immediate future, I would go with a maximum of 2.25" diameter (naturally aspirated). Any higher and you'll wind up with a noticeable loss of torque / bottom end. Turbo systems & superchargers can utilize the larger diameter pipes more efficiently. Bigger is not always better.

true.......... bigger is not better....... keep that in mind when u buy exhaust mufflers too.
Just cause it has a big tip and sounds great....... doesn't mean your gonna be a speed racer.

Hey man,
Go with a 2.25" pipes directly from your manifold. I find that gives the deepest sound withe the most low end torque. It's only worth it, though, if you go with a CAI to compliment the faster dispersion of exhaust. If you want to blow more exhaust out you have to suck more air in, or else you'll find holes torque output. 2.5" pipes are great for turbo or nitrous kits!
