Here are some pictures of what they look like out of the car.

I was visited by the UPS man about an hour ago. And he brought me these.

They are big rings that go in your cylinders to keep you from cracking the block. They are reinforced for better handling of pressure and heat. They are better than a block guard and definitely better than studding your cylinder walls.

I know you aren't going to use those, so send them my way...

so would you recommend getting these if you plan on boosting, especially over around 8 psi?

I think they are for really high boost applications like i know his goal is 400whp. How do they look installed??
edit: but then again all cars are different and some can crack even at 8psi i guess its how lucky you are. but to go over 10 you definetely need rods and pistons

Cool:
Is good to know that they made a direct replacement.
I had to use the D16 sleeves.
I updated my engine build thread with this new info.

Sleeves are a good insurance for your block whether high boosting or not.
If one of your rods or pistons go, it will prevented it from going thru your block.
Also they disperse heat more efficienly.
Sleeving your block will not stop them from walking (moving side to side under high pressure)
A block guard is a good idea.
Just remember to bore out the holes bigger see picture below:

That depends on the type of sleeve. A closed deck or spoke design will not walk. Look at these photos: http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...=153591&page=3
to see an alternate sleeve design that cant walk side to side.

Also, I can push a rod out the side of any motor, sleeved or not!

Supermex,
I have a block guard also, and i will be taking your advice and making the coolant passages larger.

I have spent countless hours on the phone with JE, Arias, Crower, and Darton talking to them about what i wanted to do. My goal is 15 psi daily, and 25+ psi at the track. I wish to make 425-500 whp. And with the parts i purchased, it will not be a problem. My buildup is good for more than 600 fwhp, according to the manufacturers.

The only thing holding me back from making these numbers is my engine management. I cannot afford an AEM, so i am currently limited to an emanage. But that will be enough to run my 15 psi daily.

Darton makes the D17 sleeves by taking the D16 sleeves, and shortening them. And these are flanged sleeves, so it is next to impossible to drop (sink) a sleeve.

The sleeves retail for about $235. Then you have to pay someone to install them.

It still wont be for a while. The rods are still 5-6 weeks away. And the pistons are still 2-3 weeks away.

they make them to order. But that is the accurate part number, so if you call them with it, they will make you the same thing i purchased.

They have the D16 sleeves in stock, so it takes them about a week to cut it down and ship it out.

Right now, I have 2 trannys, 2 sets of axels, 2 extra cylinder heads, 2 extra cams, an extra set of rods, extra crank, extra stock block (complete long block), extra sub-frame, extra ECU, extra wiring harness, intake manifold, throttle body, all the sensors.

i have already been through 2 trannies with the stock motor under boost.

I have been through 4 clutches, 2 flywheels, 6 sets of tires, 2 sets of slicks, 1 set of DR's, and now 1 motor.

When it brakes, i will replace it. Then i will drive easily til i have a replacement for that.

Hey good job. Waiting sucks. After your build-up, let's buy you an HKS F-CON V PRO and have your car towed to an HKS pro dealer for tuning. Wiring will be a bitch but we can do it. Hopefully, I'll be running one with my next car.

INSTALLATION is the key!
They is going to be so much pressure pushing the sleeves into the block that the crank shaft drive will need to be honed and the block check for warpage.

After the sleeving is done I will recomend decking the top and the sides of the block were the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold meet.
make sure all is straight and flat.

Do the sleeves replace stock sleeves, or does the block have to be machined.
