cruise control?
does anybody know how to wire the cruise switch so it's always on and i can rewire something to the same switch. like ground lights. is it as simple as disconnecting two wires and taping them together, or is it more complicated? i want to hook up my liteglow kit to that switch.

i want to use the switch for my liteglow kit i'm ordering. the cruise being on all the time would mean that i could just use the buttons on the steering wheel instead of having to reach over and press the little button. there isn't any parasitic effect on the car for having it on all the time, just the little light on the gauge cluster gets annoying, but i think the liteglow kit will make up for it. having the cruise button on the left on all the time doesn't matter, that button is pointless. i think it would be great to wire those together, let me know how it goes. it would be better to solder them together if you can though, and then tape them.

just went out to check it out. i couldn't unplug the wire plug thing because i couldn't get to a certin screw. you have to unscrew the change pocket thing in the front, and then one on the back side by the hood latch. the plastic moulding around the hood latch can't be taken off without breaking it, and it limits the length of the screwdriver, you need something about 2" long to fit in there, the smallest one i have is like 1/2" too long. but there is a plug similar to the one for a stereo head unit. why so many wires to do one thing? anyways, the wiring would be really difficult for me to figure out, but it is accessable. then i would need to rewire my lights to another plug and simply put it all back together. i'm going to find another place to put my switch, but i'll keep working on on that. i just didn't want to resort to the only switch spot available down by the power supply port. if anybody could figure out the wiring, or how to do this without having to cut and match all the wires, that would be really nifty. if not, i'll have to stick with my alternate choice.
p.s. you have to remove the fuse cover and the black plastic plate above the pedals. the fuse has two turn *****. the plastic plate has one, and then just pull it hard down on the left to release the clip, and pull it out. it's a gold screw, really hard to see, and harder to access.

i want to have the nice fitting cruise button with the green light to let me know when my green lights are on. also so my friend starts looking for my on/off switch and can't find it. he doesn't think i can make it hook up to the cruise switch. i intend to prove him wrong.

you can but you gotta go down and dirty with this one...
usually an led on a switch and the wires to the switch itself is internal......what you can do is the connections going to that switch (i think there should just be two wires) connect both together and tape it using electrical tape and use the switch like you would any other switch...but by doing this you would be on your own if something goes wrong...so its a risky thing to do

well i spent about 30 minutes and a lot of pain to take a close look at this. there are 5 wires leading into a grey connecter. that leads to a blue connecter. this leads to the switch. there is a green led for the light, and a red one for display. i couldn't just look at it and tell which wires ran the led's and which activated the cruise control. even if i could tell, and i cut the wires, i had a fear of one of them recoiling into the black wire tube and never seeing it again. knowing my luck, that would be a cruise control one. so i decided to not do that and just mount the switch in my change pocket. when/if i have to open up the dash, i'll take a long close look and re-wire it so it's always on, and leave it open to hook something up. so for now the switch stays normal and i frown
if i get bored some day, i'll open it up again and try to figure it out. but i doubt that will happen.
