how would I be able to tell if trunk/hood/door shock sensors were installed on my car
how would I be able to tell if trunk/hood/door shock sensors were installed on my car
I tried searching for this but couldnt find anything
I got a car alarm installed by car toys about 2 weeks ago. Today I took off my door panels to put in some automatic locks and noticed that it didnt look like there was any aftermarket stuff back there.... I dont know what a shock sensor is supposed to look like, but they said that they were going to install door sensors along with trunk and hood pins so that if anyone were to bump up against the doors or mess with the hood or trunk my alarm would go off.
I would just test it if I could but I also got a proximity sensor installed and that would go off first anyways so I cant really tell if they are there or not...
Any help or info would be great! thanks

What I dont quite understand is if you cant test to see if they really installed what they said they installed, then how is this going to protect your car from a burglary? pretend you are a burglar and try and break into your car, except dont actually do it. bump up against the car, mess with the trunk or doors and see if it sets it off. Telling me you have some other sensor on there that will go off first doesnt matter, if that goes off then the other sensors go off, then you have them installed. If nothing goes off, check back with car toys and ask them where they are. Now car toys should have showed you how the alarm works before you left the lot, incase you had questions. And you should have made sure everything worked properly before you left.
Car toys SUCKS! I paid to have a bunch of stuff installed and they didn't install it...probably thinking i was a stupid hs/college kid, i had to go back over and over again so they would get it right so I would suggest doing these things to check:
Arm your alarm.
Shock Sensor - From outside the vehicle, kick your tire it should cause enough vibratinos to set it off. Or arm it while your still inside, tap your steering wheel a few times lightly and it should set the alarm off. I have my shock sensor turned down and when i'm inside i can set it off pretty easily.
I'm not sure if you have a hood pin or trunk pins installed but to check them:
1. Hood Pin - Open up your hood and look for it. It basically looks like a long button sticking up. or, if you go inside your car...arm the alarm and open the hood from the inside if the alarm goes off then that means you have it. Although this isn't a good way because your shock sensor might go off from the vibrations.
2. trunk - arm your alarm and then use your key to open the trunk. if it goes off you have one if not you don't.

for your hood, unlatch the hood then arm your car. lift the hood and try to close it but don't slam it. if it's a hood sensor then i should go off if you move the hood. but usually places show you how everything works and how to adjust everything before you leave

ok they definately didnt put one of those in. Im so pissed at them. I still have to test the trunk and doors tomorrow, but they also didnt install headlight flashers (which they charged me for). I am trying to figure out what they didnt install so I can go in and just get it refunded.
yeah same thing happened to me...i made them give me a bunch of free stuff. i wish i had them take it all out and had gone to a diff place because even though they "fixed" everything. I had a bunch of problems after from a crappy install. When i wanted to add remote start to my alarm the place i took it to told me that car toys did **** a crappy install that they didnt want to touch it.

arm the system with you in it and then pull the hood and trunk latches, and open all the doors., one at a time ofcourse. Shock sensor, arm it outside, wait at least 10 secs, and then tap on (or hit) the door on the black panel to the right of the window.
