Horsepower vs. weight
Horsepower vs. weight
So, I'm considering... more just browsing cars and I'm noticing that cars with larger engines tend to have more weight.
So, my question is this: what ratio, or what should I look for?
Now, I know that part of that depends on what I'm going to do with the car, like a lighter car is beneficial if I plan to swap in a more powerful engine, but one of the problems with my civic is that I can't fit very much into it engine wise.
What things would I look for in the car when I'm gauging its ability to be really fast and or just plain customizable or upgradable?

Larger car, generally more horsepower, generally handling is lost. Smaller car, generally less horsepower, generally handles a lot better... My choice...Smaller car, more horsepower, handles GREAT!!!

this is hardly something that should weigh very heavily on your decision.
first you need to decide what you want out of the car.

^ thats true. The use of a car is obviously critical, I mean, obviously I'd want a truck if I was going to haul lumber, do construction or whatever...
I'll be heading to college in a year, and until then I plan to do tech support. So the car needs to be able to get from A to B, and might need to do cross country trips in the next year. So, anything will work, but gas mileage is important these days, yet not critical.
Thus, my question... if I'm looking for a car that will go fast, so that I can do track racing mostly for fun, what would I look for?

accord hybrid if you can afford it.
runs 14's stock and gets 37mpg while doing it.
otherwise if you dont want straight line, and want to track/auto-x, the civic is a good platform. good mileage, and handles well for what it is.

Lord Vader pretty much said it.. If your looking for some really fast cars 13's gas mileage tends to suffer. The accord is a good choice!
