Florida registration...from New York
I just wanted to know how to go about getting my car registered in Florida even though i live in New York. My insurance is going to drop me soon, and my driving record in New York is horrible, and i can't afford insurance here no more. Can anyone help me out with this and how I can go about cheating the system, lol. Thanks Actually the state of Florida will get info from other states if the other state shares the info. Its called being a reciprocal motor vehicle report and 44 of the 50 states do share information. If you get insurance in Florida and have tickets in NY, your insurance company will still find out. If you keep your license in NY they will anyway when they run your motor vehicle report. Also Fl has mandatory personal injury coverage that will not cover you outside the state. You will sacrafice coverage for little to no benefit by changing. Also if you have a claim on a car thats reg in FL and kept in NY, they might not pay it due to material misrepresentation, meaning you lied and they didnt collect the right premium for the risk. In Fl you need to get ins before you get registered anyway because they require at at least PIP and Liability property damage coverage, or else they will suspend your FL lic if you have one.
