insurance companies that ACTUALLY cover modded cars
insurance companies that ACTUALLY cover modded cars
Does anyone have a list of companies that cover in ontario/canada that cover our cars with coilovers and other mods ?
i went to state farm today and they told me if i lowered my car i would be not covered should something happen.
i do want my insurance company to cover my car should anything happen.. so not telling them is a last resort - i do have a family that i have to watch out for
any ideas?

Well, Progressive has a spot on there form for the amount of aftermarket stuff put onto your car, I woudl try to call them. Not real sure about specfics though, won't hurt if you want to call them.
Good to know about state farm

no i havnt called them yet, ive called a lot of places and been either turned down, or quote insane amounts of money.
i would sugguest letting them know you have mods or they can turn down a claim .. say..if you run over a baby or something.. or smash someones ride.

If I let my insurance company know, I'm pretty sure I'd be ok. I haven't had any speeding tickets or whatnot, and I've been a client there for over 10 years. If I called my broker, he'd probably quote me more money a month for the mods. Either way if anything happened, I'd deal with it when/if the time comes.
try Ecconomical and the co-operators

yea, but if that time does come, they can legally walk away from it - which sucks
thanks for the lead on the Co Operators.. i just found a local agent and will be calling her tommorrow. Anyone else actually have insurance on their mods for a decent price ?

Some guy could T-bone your car, and you could be left with no claim. You could get screwed and have nothing to show for it.

Probably...
I am with Scottish and York and I disclosed my very first mods when I got the car. They are aware of my rims and body kit. They also came and took pictures at that time. They are unaware that I am lowered because it seems that insurance companies equate lowering with street racing.
covering a stereo is one thing .. they cover my stereo and my subs, but we're talking about lowering. body kits etc are fine too.. anything the alters the way the car handles or increases speed etc they will walk away from

THe downside is that they charge a lot more then other insurance companies form what i've researched. I ditched them and save over $1500 a year
