'01 Sedan Keyless Entry Questions
Hello, I'm new on these forums, and I just got an '01 LX Sedan today (8 hours ago, in fact.). I wasn't given any remotes by the dealer, but they told me that the car might come with keyless entry, but they weren't sure. So I was just wondering if there was any way to tell if the car came with this option using the VIN or something like that. On my window, there is the anti-theft/immobilizer sticker, but I'm not sure if that's the same as keyless entry. When I went to a Honda dealer to ask them about it, they told me that the only way to know for sure would be to locate the keyless entry module inside the dash. Is there any easier way? Thanks in advance.

Yes, keyless entry is optional on LX (like mine) and I have it installed days after I bought the car. If you bought it used from the dealership and they didn't give the remote, I would say yours doesn't have the module installed at all. The easy way to find out is to take a look at the fuse box under the steering wheel and look for that module (the green socket right above the yellow one. Don't worry about 1,2,3 in the picture, I was using the pic for foglight illustration for someone else)

if you have power locks on an lx then it should have the leyless entry. go to a honda dealership and ask a service technician. give him your VIN and he will be able to tell you. and if you don't a keyless entry remote should be around 40 bucks a piece from a dealership. so yeah.

If you could edit the pic and draw a big red circle around the plug in question.
The reason I ask is I looked at my fuse box and it appeared to have the green plug you were referring to, but when I try to program the remote, I don't get the lock/unlock learning mode by the car. I have another remote coming, as the one I have could be the wrong FCC ID or what not.
Any and all help is appreciated!
I just checked in my fuse box and I'm about 90% positive I have that plug. I'm going to check tomorrow morning to make sure.
I tried to program a remote I bought off Ebay, I wasn't able to match the FCC id to anything, but I bought a remote anyway, and when I go try to program the remote I don't get any response.
When I go from 0 to II and click the lock on the remote 3 times, I never get the car to go into program mode when the locks flip open/close. So now I'm not sure if it's the remote or my keyless entry system. I figure the remote shouldn't affect the programming mode, and the car should try to program the remote and if the remote is the wrong number, then it just won't program, but the car should atleast go into programming mode.
Another possibility is my keyless entry fuse is blown. I looked at the fuse panel, but I couldn't find one for the keyless entry system. Is it under the hood?
Thanks for your help guys!
