aight heres the deal.....my friend says he knows the sales manager at my local honda dealer and they're practically family.... before he bought his lancer oz rally, the guy at the honda dealer told him that he would sell him a new 2002 EX speed civic for 13500 OUT THE DOOR !!!!!!!!~~!!! now i'm not a genius er anything.... but the invoice price according to Kelly Blue Book is 15530.02.... i completely think this is bullshiz and theres no way i'm ever gonna get a deal like that.... i heard from somewhere that car dealers can support up to 700 dollars below invoice price and still make money off of it... but the price that i've been giving is still $2000 below invoice which makes me scratch my head..... anyways... anybody here know exactly how much it costs for the dealer to get the cars ??? i mean....obviously it's below the listed invoice price but i just gotta know if he's blowing smoke in my face..... Rep Power: 0 Yeah, I bought mine for 14800 and that was clearance price for my 01 ex 5spd. I dont think thats possible unless the dealer has a special promotion with the manufacturer for some cars to go for really low prices. Kind of like, "if you sell 500 civics for 16800, we will let you sell 20 for 13000" but it still would not make sense to go that low.

Rep Power: 0 he probably had to clear inventory to make way for the 2002's, i heard a while ago that someone bought a car for only 5 dollars because there was so many cars they had to get rid of that they practically gave it away

Rep Power: 0 well the honda dealers get a pretty nice commision check from HONDA for every honda car they sell, so some dealers sell under the msrp. as long as they sell there cars they will make money so they rather make less on the car itself and wait for the commision cause they are happy with that. since they are selling cheaper than everyone else that means they might sell more car thatn other dealers which will give them more commision. so they lose a little but gain more at teh end. i got my 2k1 under msrp.

Rep Power: 0 i payed $10 over invoice but thats only cause I worked at the dealership.. the one I worked for could afford to go $100 over because of a filing fee they charged, but I don't know about $2k under. usually don't even see that on a car they've had on the lot for a couple years..
