are jackstands really needed to remove ft bumper cover?

I just looked at an install of Grillcraft on a 2k1 civic, and they removed the front bumper without using jackstands. But on the DIY section here it says you'll need to haev your car on jackstands...Anyone who has actually removed the bumper can you help me? I want to clear my headlights...And also what exactly do i need to seal my lights back up afterwards...just any tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I think the jackstands are only needed if you are a big dude and can't fit under the car to remove the bolts/screws holding the bumper on. If you are a little skinny guy then you should be ok.

to seal your lights back up you need to get some clear kitchen/bath silicone you can get it at any hardware store

My head was too fat to fit under the bumper when I tried to do mine; just get some sort of jack and lift up your passenger side front wheel by the safety area. Once you got that you'll have enough room to do the whole procedure pretty easily

My Tsunami has only two big bolts that hold it together from underneath. They're secured to these two aluminum brackets (custom made, I hated the ones that came with the kit). I can take off the front bumper even if my car was lowered. I only need enough space to get my hand under there. Anyway, just a tid bit of info. for those who are curious. no, you don't need jack stands as long as you reach the clips, and use small screw drivers!

Yep, my car is dropped almost 3", and I can still remove my front bumper w/o jackstands. Just need a really short phillips head screwdriver, to get the 2 screws out from underneath, anda really short flathead to get the 6 clips out.
