Suspension or tires, I need help
I have Hayame V2 coilovers, and let me just start, I know everything there is to know about these, I have read all the threads. I just haven't ridden in any lowered cars, and don't know If my issues are just normal, so can someone help me out?
I have had my suspension on since april, and have put about 3000 miles on my car (it was stored this winter), and my tire wear seems fine, if it is out of alignment, would I have noticed after 3000 miles or so?
This biggest complaint I have, is when I hit bumps in the road, the steering wheel jolts to the left then right, you really notice this if you just take your hands off the wheel, and watch it, it doesn't keep a straight line, is this normal?
Also, the suspension seems very "noisy", like when I hit expansion joints on bridges, or big cracks in the pavement, I can hear it, and it is very anoying. I get no noises during normal travel of the suspension, such as going over large dips in the road, where you can feel the whole car go thru the suspension travel, due mostly to the weight of the car, no what I mean?
Im also running on 205-40-17 wheels - wagon wheels as I call them, cause there isn't much sidewall on these tires, could the tires be contributing to the noise?
The problem is I havn't riden in any cars that have been lowered since I lowered my car, so I can't remember if there cars made the same noises. I don't know how much if any of these issues are related the the Hayame's themselves, but it is hard to make a clear decision with all the problems people have had with these. Im at the point of maybe getting some teins, but don't want to have the same problems. I'm wondering if these are common occurances with lowered and stiffer spring rates?
Im lowered only 1.5 inches, I got a 2 finger gap all around.
Im not getting squeeking noises, heres an example,
picture riding over 1 or 2 inch gaps or craks in pavement, with a kids wheelbarrel with plastic wheels. You are gonna feel every bump, and depending on how big the gap is in the pavement, will determine the amount of noise you hear.
I don't get any noises from the suspension in it's normal travel, like going over large dips, or tight turns, causing body roll. It's just quick, sudden bumps, or washed out dirt roads, like washboards, know what I mean?
Couldn’t the tires and there harshness be contributing to the noises I hear going over bumps, like if I were riding on wooden wheels, that’s the only way I can explain the noises.
Please help me....
