Rapid warmup for hot temperatures before and during the weekend...

High pressure aloft will build strongly across the Desert Southwest
over the next couple of days and remain in place into next week.
This will lead to a significant warming trend beginning Wednesday
and continuing into the weekend. Pretty much all Lower Desert
locations will exceed 100 degrees by Thursday with a few locations
close to record territory. On Friday and Saturday... temperatures will
continue to climb with more locations at or near record highs...
mainly for south-central Arizona. For now it looks like temperatures
will peak Sunday and Monday with Phoenix approaching 110 degrees
both days.

People with outdoor interests should be prepared for the hot
temperatures and plan accordingly.

well, at least my car is busted, so I wont be driving it. Thanks for the heads up, I noticed it got very hot today. I was in prescott/sedona/cornville/dewey yesterday, and it was awesome weather. We stopped at a winery for wine tasting, and sat outside looking at the vineyard and stuff. it was such a nice day and so bad ***. awesome road to drive into Cornville as well.

UPDATE:

Excessive heat watch in effect Friday for the south-central
and southwest Arizona deserts and extreme southeast
California...

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for
Friday for those living in Maricopa County... northwest Pinal...
Yuma... La Paz... and the lower Colorado River valley portion of
Imperial and eastern Riverside counties. The combination of hot
temperatures and low humidity could pose a health hazard... especially
to the very Young and elderly and anyone outdoors.

A major warming trend will begin Thursday with most low elevation
deserts reaching 100 degrees. At least several degrees of additional
warming is anticipated Friday for record or near record high
temperatures. Even warmer temperatures are anticipated over the
weekend and into next week for a continuation of high temperatures
in record territory across south-central and southwest Arizona and
southeast California.

If you plan to be outside... avoid prolonged exposure or strenuous
physical activity. Your body can lose up to a gallon of water an
hour through perspiration. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid
dehydration. Alcoholic and caffeinated beverages can increase
the rate of water loss in your body... increasing the risk of heat
exhaustion or stroke. Wear lightweight... light-colored... loose-
fitting clothing. Wear a hat to shield yourself from the sun...
and use a sunscreen to reduce possible sunburn.
