no.
spark timing is done by the ecu. it is only adjustable with emanage and ignition harness or aem ems.

ems is the only ecu that will raise the rev limit.

i've heard that the way the d17 is setup, adjusting the cam timing WILL affect ignition timing.

it may affect a lil bit but probably nothing that would either be predictable, noticable, or beneficial. I believe our stock ECU uses both the cam and crank sensor to determine optimal ignition advance. I may be wrong on this though. I dont ever have to worry because Im running my cam straight up and running an ems lol. I know It may seem like our ignition systems suck but believe me they work SOOOOO much better than coil/distributor ignitions. Between that and the iridiums that come in our cars, once you have some adjustablity you dont need anything else.

cam gear..

..have succesfully installed and run AEM cam gears on 03-05 Civics here, and yes, ignition timing changes by itself, in relation to the advance or retard of the cam gear. Anyone else tried this and got results?

Mclean987, believe you can get greater gains by retardig it two or three degrees. have got great results that way, and hope you will too!!

a cam gear should always be tuned on a dyno.

Ignition timing is run off of the cam angle sensor which is also referenced against the crank angle sensor which tells the ECU exactly where the motor is at any point in time. The cam angle sensor determines which cylinder fires and and what time.

Dyno is the only option, unless you wanna advance or retard to much and loose power, thats up to you! $125 bucks to loose power, i'd get it tuned.

are you sure about that argus, when you retard it supposed to give you more horsepower and less low end toque, or when you got boost, you get more topspeed aswell when you retard but less low end power which is what i want thats why i advanced it

generally advancing the timing will give more torque.

but like I said, dyno is not an option for some of us, meaning one is not available in our area/country.
