Suspended liscence....what to do...
Suspended liscence....what to do...
Well, yesterday I get a letter in the mail from the MTO.
Seems to be that my liscence is suspended due to unpaid fines.
Got me wondering, because I've been ticket free for the last 4 years.
Curiosity got to me, so I go out to the self sevice kiosk and get a drivers' abstract.
Hmmm...
Speeding violation on Jan.20.2005 (80km in a 50km zone, 4 demerit points).
That got me thinking. Narrowed down the date and appears that I was in Manitoba on that date. That obviously wasn't me.
Can somebody say identity theft!
1- How do I go about on finding info for what city/township this ticket was issued? Seeing as I don't have the ticket at all in my possesion.
2- Where can I get a copy of the ticket?
3- Will I have to wait 3-6 months (or whatever it is) for a court date? Or is there a differnt process for this type of thing.
I've got a copy of my aeroplan statement to prove that I flew out on Jan.18.05 - and flew back on Jan.28.05. As well, visa statement, showing many purchases for my trip and my hotel bill being mailed out to me as we speak. Do you guys think that this is enough evidence to clear this wrong doing?
Please help guys...

Absolutely... keep all records that proves you were not in the province at the time you were accused. You should be aquitted of all charges without question. If you're really worried though, contact legal aid and see what they say or what they can do for you.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

lol thats a terrible idea. they are death traps when you arent speeding...
but so so nice.
anyway you have plenty of info to clear you, but bring who ever was with you on the trip to vouch for you too, if someone came with you that is.
you shouldnt need a legal aid, but I WOULD get a hold of the police or whatever ASAP!

hi,
you need some paper and a widness to prove that you are not at the area at the time, and you have to dispute this at the court.
Make sure that you are right, because it is very unlikely that a police will make this kind of mistake.
