Grinding Noise

Whenever im in 2nd gear and i rev to 4-5000 rpms and go to shift into 3rd quickly I feel a small gear like spinning and it makes a grinding noise. I made sure that i had the clutch all the way down and it still did it. Its only when its that high in the rpms is when it grinds. Lower than 4 and it has no problem at all. Also when im in 4-5 rpms and i hold the clutch in for 2-3 sec then its able to handle it without any grinding. Any ideas on what it could be or is that just how its suppose to be? Thanks guys

That would be my guess, the gears arn't lining up correctly, but I don't have much experience with the em2 trannys...read this

and maybe try PMing 'cg95660' or 'sdcivic549' they seem to know what they are talking about...

Kind of reminds me of, sometimes, when I go to back up and throw it in reverse, even if I double clutch, it grinds...

i have the same problem the synchros are on there way out , this is the 2nd time i already rebuilt tranny and changed the synchros, my car does that too but only after ive been driving for like 4- hours or if im racing, anyway you need to change the oil to a thicker oila dn it will help right nopw im using gear oil which is like 75-90 instead of the 10-30 were supposed to use and it stop grinding, you can also use lucas oil or add some moly

Yeah basically what he said. I had that same problem in an older civic I had, but I drove the car almost 50,000 mile like that and it got a little worse with time. But I just babied the 2-3 shift when I wasn't racing or something and never had any real problems. Later if I was shifting hard I might miss the 2-3 gear, I hope it's because of that, but it was probably just becuase I suck at shifting

Put it in first, than reverse and it will never grind on ya. My friend told me that a few months ago, cuz he hear my reverse grind a few times. It has worked everytime, not once hae I grinded in reverse. and i gots almost a 100,000 on my car/clutch/transmission.
