EDIT 27 APR 05

So ok, I got my tranny yesterday afternoon, and I installed it last night from 8:45 to 2AM,
it took me a long time coz first i'm alone, two i don't wanna use my air tools (my neighboors suck big time, I don't understand old people sometimes, coz they have hearing aid, but then at night they have an ear of a bat
) and three it's dark as hell
I don't not suggest to DIY if you don't have air tools, engine lifter/tilter, a well lit garage
, friends that will help you or if you are 5'6" and weighs a buck 40
, coz it will be a pain! 91lbs lifting using your back... yeah, you know what I mean...
but yeah, it took me an extra 45mins tryin to figure out what was wrong with my ride (starter, vacuum hose), but I manage to fix the problem today...
--my first impression is 101% better than the 01 tranny that I had
--smoother/precise shifting from 1-5
--crisp shifting, no deadspace on shifting travel
--I drove it hard for about 40mins and no miss gears yet
--2nd to 3rd is perfect
but the tranny only had 4k miles on it, so who knows... my 01 tranny started giving me problems right around 10k miles... so we'll see... but for now i'm a happy camper as far a the transmission... but my wheels are way off
but that would be an easy fix...

UPS suck
!!! the bastards delayed my delivery date for 2 days and a half
but I finally got em today!, the UPS guy was so pissed coz the damn thing weighs over 90lbs and had oil all over the shrink wrap hahaha
, now wonder they delayed the delivery, I think nobody wants to deliver the d amn thing
.
The tranny came off from an 04, will swapped into my 01 which had a fvcked up tranny in the first place which I fvcked
(sorry too much fvck words
) but this baby only had 4k miles on it, and I payed 500bucks shipped!!! from www.car-parts.com
pictures and feedback by tomorrow, Opto-Isolator had this swap already and he is very satisfied
... I'll get off work by 7:00PM, I hope I can get this thing done by midnight... I can't wait!!!

NOT HEARED rather I experienced, I had the 01 tranny and i've been having trouble with shifting sometimes to where it will not go into gear, switching gears, and getting it out of gear, and a miss gear between 2nd to 3rd, before I fvcked it up completely...

good to see you got a good deal man, you deserve it after all the crap your tranny has given ya....
Mine is about to go for the second time (exactly how you described) just before my warranty is up....the guy at my honda dealership that helped replace my first tranny said its crazy the amount of civics that have fu(ked up trannys

Mine will bind occasionally when I get off the highway and downshift from 5th to 4th...it just doesn't want to go into gear. That hasn't happened in a while, though. Thank God I have the extended warranty!
I got an '02 with 57k on it... I drive mine pretty damn hard, especially on and off ramps for the highway (which is 75% of my driving) and I haven't had a problem. While I MUST say that I wish I still had the feel of my 95 (I love how direct those trannys feel), this one is doing better for me than I've seen other people with RSX's Corolla's and Eclipses... In fact, I still haven't felt a single grind (when I use the clutch anyway
). But let's say I start getting problems and decide to go with an '03 or an '04 trans: which is better and is it direct replacement app?

anyway EDIT on top about the 04 tranny!

i have an 01, and mine grinds alot .. i dunno if its because i'm shifting too vigorously, or what, but going from 2 to 3 sux, it grinds ALOT! should i look into a tranny swap for an 04+ as well?

the 03-04's are better than the earlier trannys... and yes, I get that 2nd jumps to 3rd grind when driven hard, but I totally fvcked the tranny up that's why I need a swap quick... 01-04 trannys are direct fit

03 are good too, but I got the 04 just to be on the safe side, specially price difference ain't that much, you just need to call alot of salvage yard, but it pays off...

My TCC Overdrive is f*cking up! Its code P0740 on the OBDII. It gets stuck from 70-80mph, needs hella gas, and then jumps from 80-90mph hella quick. Its killing my gas. I gotta get it fixed next week, I dunno how much its gonna cost though. Are the 04's really that much better and if so how much does the swap generally cost (minus labor)?

Are the gear ratios the same?? I hate being over 3000 rpms in 5th gear. Max rpms in each gear?? To compare with an 02 manual please?
