Question How stiff is your suspension? Will this bring problems in the future??

A buddy of mine who has some years of experience tunning cars specially Toyotas and after driving my Civic the other day, he mentioned that my suspension is way too stiff and unstable...I told him about the susp. mods. I have and that obviously after changing some of the oem parts, the car would obviuosly feel stiffer. Anyways...he's concerned that pretty soon I won't have a suspension at all and that my springs will eventually brake its base and drop my car to the floor. Is this really true? Will our cars' suspension eventually get damaged because we installed performance parts on it? I personally don't feel that my car is that much unstable, but the suspension IS very stiff though. I'm not taking his word as final, just wanted to get some comments to see what yall think...

Well if its done right, you shouldn't break anything. Don't be surprised if some of the trim starts rattling, but as far as something completely breaking loose and collapsing, I doubt it if you maintain the car. I highly doubt you can bust a spring seat loose with any of the sport springs available for this car.

do you drive it off road? or drive it on a series of bump on a freeway? if not don't worry about it... I have the TEIN BASICS, X-BRACE AND UPPER STRUT BAR, with 215/35ZR18 tires and yes they are stiff, but I drive it on a nicely paved roads... just my .05

Well...I'm mostly a city/hwy driver and rarely go on places where I could damage my car. Like you guys, I too think that I shouldn't have any problems. There's many members here with my set up: Sportlines and Tokicos HPs and I've never heard of any major problems with them yet. Maybe Toyotas have a whole diferent feeling to its suspension and handling.

You should have asked your friend what happens to the mini cooper, rsx type S and other sports cars for that matter. A lot of the sports car are light and ultra stiff, thats why the seats are made so cushy.

Cubanmike my civic comes stock with 25.4 mm front bar.
The new type S come with the 21mm stock rear.

I think your springs are 20% stiffer than stock, and your shocks are higher quality so they handle quite a bit better than the OEM. OEM shocks don't even feel right with the OEM springs.

A lot of ride comfort I find comes from the Tires. If you have the low profile tires with the stiff sidewall I think those make the most significant impact in terms of ride quality and road noise.
