Well last Friday I come back from shcool to find my civic's mirror to be broken and lying on the floor next to the car. (DAMN NYC DRIVERS) . So well I ordered a new mirror for majestic honda but it still hasn't come yet. So today I coming back again and I find a ticket on the car. I check and it's $45 for missing equipment.(the car was parked too!) I was like damn it! It doesn't say a "fix it" ticket, but I can try to plead not guilty. How would I go about it?
Just snap a picture once teh mirror gets here and I insatll it? What should I say?

How do they expect me to fix the mirror before it egts here. I mean even if I go to my local mechanic he needs a day or so for the mirror to get to his shop.

take it to court and say ur mirror was broken off that day before u got the ticket and when u read the ticket u noticed ur mirror was broken off about 20ft away...say that...it worked for my homie who got the same thing

this happened to me and i pleaded not guilty and showed the judge my reciept for the mirror that i order and my appointment i had made with honda to get it put on. he said ok and dropped the ticket, but i don't know about NYC tho. Good luck

Just take a copy of the order. Does not seem quite fair to me, to not give you a chance to get it fixed before they issue a ticket.

yeah, that s stupid reason for a ticket, I understand safety, but not a reason to get a ticket. We have nice cars, they should not give tickets unless we are in the car, to find out if were replacing it.

While parked... Wow, I'd raise all kinds of hell.. they can't hold you responsible for your car being vandalized without giving you adequate time to repair it...

If you did in fact order the mirror prior to recieving the ticket, request a hearing and bring in the dated receipt or invoice for the mirror. That should take care of it.

To my knowledge the law specifies that you must have 2 mirrors at all time... Not three. You should be fine with your other sideview mirror and rear view mirror. You may want to go to your local DMV to varify that tho.

Depends on what mirror. You are Reqired to have a Drivers side and and a Rear veiw mirror, the pasenger side mirror is optional.

My cousin got a ticket at 7am (cali time) for no front plate. His car was parked facing in on the driveway!!! when he woke up at 9 he saw the ticket and fought the ticket...didn't know the outcome buy i'll ask him.

definately goto court for it. when you appear in court, tell the judge the mirror was broken off the same day the ticket was issued. you had no idea until the day the ticket was issued. tell him/her the mirror was popped off due to drivers on the road as you was parked on the street. the driver who hit your car did NOT leave a note. (i bet if there was a note, the officer wouldnt have cited you for this bs citation). always make sure to mention you were PARKED and away from the vehicle when the ticket was cited. it should've been a fix-it ticket.

take pics once you replace the mirror. show the judge the photos and tell him/her you have gotten taken care of.


MAKE SURE:
-citation was issued when vehicle was parked AND owner of vehicle was away
-driver knocked off the mirror while you was away and had no clue about it
-driver did NOT leave a note
-you were parked on the street
-citation was issued right after driver knocked off mirror, nearly impossible for the average man to replace it within a matter of time
