Just finished installing my new transmission - shifts like butter!

Man - that 2001 transmission I had was crap compared to this 2004 transmission!! I took the car for a test drive tonight after wrapping up - the damn thing is smooth!

I just need an alignment bad though,...

Yeah, 5 speed stock LX replacement. My original was starting to take a dump on me - only had 43000 miles on it too! Damn Honda really f'ed up the 2001 series cars...

Stock suspension feels nice too! Nice and cushy...Really need an alignment bad though!

I found a 2004 on car-part.com with low miles for about $475 shipped. I also bought a few other goodies to replace things I inadvertantly messed up previously....

But, most shops should probably charge $300-400 to swap it - I did mine for fee, although, the hardest (and scariest part) was dropping the subframe and tranny itself. Once I got it back together, the rest was cake!

My 01 still shifts real smooth at 50K plus...I did replace the bushings with some of CapYoda's. Dont know if that helped.

The DIY is in the helm's manual, which I follow like a bible when it comes to working on my car.

Ive got like 23,400 on my 04, and it feels like the tranny is really starting to break in nice. Its smooth all the way through, and with a good driver shifts are seamless.

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I opted for a 2004 series transmission, because I figured Honda had worked most of the problems out of them by than. 2001 and 2002 series had issues with the synchro's among other things.

I think there was a redesign with 2005 as well, which is why the 2004 series is a good choice.

Good luck...

Congratulations on your swap! I opted to pull mine straight through the top of the engine bay when I swapped mine out.
