DIY: amber signal without the reflection
Okay this is for all you people with clear headlights and amber bulb that always reflects in the housing and looks unclean.
I started thinking about what to do until I thought of finding out which part of the bulb reflects in there. I taped off certain portions of the bulb until I found that the tip of the bulb almost doesn't reflect at all. So I taped off the tip and painted the rest of the bulb with 6-10 coats of hi temp silver spray paint. You want enough on it so that no light escapes. I tried to do a little first but this didn't look right with the light on. It looked like the bulb was cracked or something. So I just painted everything well enough so no light could get out. Then put everything back and tested em. I don't know how the paint will hold up yet. We'll see. But from the pics it's obvious they look alot cleaner than before, and the signal is still bright enough and a nice color from the front. I also have sidemarkers which will help, since the front signals aren't that visible from the sides. Also I don't know how they will look at night. That will be the big test, and I'll post pics as well.

Not in GA. I read every article and chapter of GA laws, just can't have flashing green or blue, and the other set, the emergeny lights, has to stay white. I haven't had a problem with them at all, had them about 14 months.

Well at night it looks okay, still bright but the color is a bit more on the yellow side where my sidemarkers are more orange. Still good I guess.
Oh yea and the paint is smoking so now there's haze in the parking light spot lol. Hopefully just curing the paint or something

Coming soon. But I don't know about the sidemarker not matching. It's a smaller bulb so I didn't paint it at all. It still looks darker than the front. At least its not on all the time tho.

added night pics of parking light on. It's a bit more yellow amber and the sidemarkers are darker amber. But it looks really clean in the day time with silver reflection instead of orange. We'll see how long they last before burning out.

yea I used hi temp paint, but it might keep heat in and make the bulb hotter so it burns out faster. I really need a permanent solution. Leds would be ideal, but they're still too dim.
