california tint law; heads up
as some of you might not know yet, in california, there is absoluately no tint allowed on the front windows of your vehicle. that includes driver window, passenger window and front windshield. except a 3" banner on the top of the front windshield. the any window behind the drivers head is acceptional, but no fancy colors or mirror like tint.
if you still think the 70% tint grade still exist as stated here: http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/S...aw%20Chart.htm it doesnt. i got hassled for 65% which is pretty much a light shade at day, slightly dark at night. beware, cops will do anything to save there jobs

and the no front window tint law was there a long time ago, just depends on how **** the cop wants to be... but 5% would definitely get you pull over.

ya, if its not raining out and a cop is around, i usually just roll down my windows till they are gone just to be sure i don't get hassled

Yeah the way i got caught was it was sprinkling and i had my windows up. It stopped raining and cleared up a bit and the cop spotted me across the street and it was all downhill from there.

true this...i have been pulled over 3 times (2 for speeding and just recently for illegal u-turn) and all those times my passnger side window was up and my driver side was like 1/4 up. cop didnt say anything. i wouldnt recomend trying to get pulled over or getting the cops attention just to see if they will complain about your tint in the front. but like prccivic said. it really depends on where you at. oh yea i have 35% in the front and 5 or 8% in the back.

i think the only reason i got busted is because i was at the wrong spot at the wrong time. i was just dropping off a buddy and i happen to be in an area where sideshows are and where they meet at. so i guess the cop saw me in a modified car and automatically assumed i was "involved" or up to something.
oakland police are usually cool about window tint as long its not limo or really dark. mine was a light shade pretty much and ive had it for about 2 years til then. i drive by police here all the time with my window up and they dont care cause they got other **** to do than hussle for tint.
and the officer that pulled me was a cocky *** ****
