Do you use Fuel / Oil additives ?
Just wanted to see how many of you use fuel/oil additives. I from time to time put STP fuel injector cleaner & STP gas treatment in my gas tank when I fill up. Also, after changing my oil, I put STP 4 cylinder oil treatment in before I add the new Valvoline motor oil in. Try it sometime & drive speed limit, you will see improved gas mileage!

as for the gas treatment, i never tried it nor intend to. i always fill my car up at a quality gas station like 76 or chevron. doubt i'd need it. but what kind of improvements do you notice?

well, i take note of my mileage everytime i fill up. Whenever I use the STP fuel additives I usually get about 5-7 more miles than without it (about 30 mpg). I mean, it may sound like petty miles....but it adds up later on. Try it out, get some @ Walmart cheaper than cheap! about $1.99 for one....wouldnt hurt to try it out once. Let me know!
Yes, I use both and I'd recommend only two brands for your oil, LC and Auto-rx.
I think a lot of what is sold is hype and BS but these two products, as anyone can easily discover at BITOG, do work and work very well. I personally use ARX as a maintenance dose (3 oz) with my RL 5/20 oil. I also use it in my Explorer after doing a complete system clean and the stuff works well. The engine valve train is absolutely spotless after nearly 60k miles. The same is reported with LC, although I do not have any experience with it.
For the fuel I use Techron and RL on the fill up before the oil change. I'd recommend those, as well as LC, based on personal experience and the documented history of all these products at BITOG.
I think that adding a fuel product at each fill up is the preferable way of gently cleaning your system as well has providing lube for the fuel pump although I find it a PITA to keep the bottle in the car and have to measure it out at each fill up. My approach of 'Shock and Awe' is my compromise vs. using nothing at all. Because the additive manufacturers know that it's got to work in one tankful their product is a much stronger (and potentially harmful) distillate than those who recommend a lesser amount with each tankful.
