What would you get? A K20A2 or a K20A DC5?
I have $7,000 saved up and i am debating on motor swap. Place is charging me 5,500 for a K20A2 motor swap and 7,500 for the K20A DC5 motor swap. I am eventually going to try and boost the engine in 2006. If you guys had $7,000 saved up which engine would you all rather get? I would invest in a new car but my civic is paid off and i want to keep my insurance cheap. If i get the K20A2 i will have some left over money to spend on the internals like cams or something. But the K20A DC5 would be sweeet just because its a Type R engine.
hmm..i dunno..either way ur ride will be sick! but im a newb but doesnt the type r coem with like 20 more ponies? if i am correct just get the other one..i dunno..dunt listen to me...lol
I talked to the place that is doing the swap and they recommend me going for the K20A2 motor swap if i am going to boost it. But the Type R would be sweet just so people can drool when i hang out on the weekends. I mean both are high compression engines and i would have to lower the compression if i get either engines. the Type R does come with 20 more ponies. But the 20 more ponies really dont matter..its the LSD transmission.

are more aggressive cams, better IM, lsd, shorter gearing and high stock rev limiter worth an extra $2000 to you? ... if so, then get the k20a
if you plan on changing it anyway, worried about smog or are going turbo, then get the k20a2.
do NOT turbo the k20a.

We dont have smog test here where i live in Kentucky. I guess i will go for the A2..The shop here told me to go with the A2 if i plan on boosting. Why is the K20A bad to boost? Just because there is no difference when boosting either engine?

I the smog on the type r is the problem... but if you have a friend that works at a smog shop, or a guy that would take 40buckets to pass you, then you be fine...
boost the turbo, but I suggest getting the internals done before installation, it's save you time and money... DH Racing have a built K20, you should check it out... if you get the turbo added, it should get you to 400horses...

When i get my motor swap done i will have pics up with motor swap and pics of my car. I guess i will go with the A2 and build the internals up by end of this year. And boost it in 2006.

Don't waste your money on the K20A...get the K20A2. You are gonna end up upgradin ya cams, so the Type R cams are useless. Also, the LSD in the K20A isn't very strong, and you are gonna wanna upgrade to somethin like the Quaife LSD. If you like the look of the K20A valve cover, simply buy one for the K20A2.
Bottom line: get the K20A2, a Quaife LSD and K-Pro for starters.

Check out iceburgslim's ride, that convinced me where I want to go with mine.

Quaife LSD - $900
Koyo aluminum radiator - $322
Hasport mount kit - $540
Hasport wiring harness - $270
Driveshaft Stage II axles - $680
K-Pro - $909.18
Hondata IMG - $55.50
Mugen oil pan - $390
Mugen carbon fiber ignition coil cover - $350
Mugen fan switch - $49
Mugen thermostat - $90
Mugen oil filler cap - $80
Viscous Technologies short shift kit - $65
ClubRSX metal shift bushings - $20

i wouldnt bother with DC5 engine as you will spend just as much turbo-ing and building engine as with other K powerplant.
