Progress Rear Sway Creeaaakkking noise

I've searched for a solution to this before posting but gave up.

Help me out here fellas. I installed the progress rear sway bar and now the car creaks in a low tone. I think its the body flexing a bit, though not sure. I add more lube to the bushings (the rubber bits holding the sucker on) but it didn't really help too much.

How can i eliminate this sound?

are you still on stock endlinks? if so, you might want to check on those, they might be on the edge of breaking. and go get yourself a set of grey's or hotchkis' endlinks.

the bushings on the progress kit are polyurethane. When you say you put lube on them did you put it on the inside of the bushing (the part that grabs on to the bar)? Also what kind of lube did u use because stuff like WD40 won't help.

have you checked if the sway bar installed are of equal lengths on both sides (from the end of the sway bars to the bushings)???

cos i have the same problem after installing OEM sways bars, initially thought i was the PU bushings, so apply some grease on the bushings but the sound still exists.

When jack up the whole car, my mechanic told me the sway bars are more to the right.

So he adjusted (move the bars more to the left) the sway bars to achieve equal lengths on both ends... went for a spin... the sound is gone.....

So hope this helps....

The bar has to be equal because it has welded on lips that prevent the bar from moving past the specified points. Thus, i don't think that it is incorrectly centered.

For lube, I used the stuff that Progress provides and then sprayed it a week later with wd40. The creaking didn't disappear but seemed to help.

I heard before that with a stiffer rear sway bar the chassis will be tighter. I did have to struggle a little to get the bar on, but it was nothing more than applying 'elbow grease'.

I have it too. I had it forever. It didn't go away. I tried lubing the bushings. Didn't help. I tried lubing the endlinks (I have custom ones). Didn't help. I tried spraying some of the metal with rubberized undercoating. Didn't help. I think I know what it is, but I'm not sure...

I think it's the metal body panels creaking as they slide past each other. It's basically because the sway bar stiffens everything up so much and because the welds are spot welds and there's not everywhere. I think the real solution to this is to weld all of the metal body pieces near the rear sway bar together. Run a bead all the way along all of the seams. That would take a hella long time to do, but it would be worth it IMO.
