Mex's trouble ticket: BOV problem.. stuck open?

hey guys, turbo's been running great now for almost 6 months, but i've now encountered a problem. just the other day, when i was driving each time i let off the gas and the BOV sounded, the sound would be all choppy, like the bov was opening and closing really fast. then, towards the end of the day, the BOV just started releasing air even when i was accelerating. after looking over all vacuum hoses and such, i realized the BOV is just stuck open :/ so my question is, what are my options? it's the BOV that came with the SF kit.. it sounded real nice too.

EDIT: ok i was able to take it apart and fix it.. i just used a very light coat of motor oil.

there's another problem that happened early on, and now it does it again:

after releasing the gas, sometimes the bov makes a high pitched buzzing sound. it only happens when the bov is opened completely to the top.. any ideas?

Cleaning it out would probably be a good first step.

Clean it out really good. I just looked at mine (hasnt been installed yet) and it looks like it has oil to help it from getting stuck. Yours might be dry making it get stuck in the open or closed position.

just go buy a GReddy type s bov. not super expensive, dependable, and sounds really good. then you won't have to worry about it messing up again.

WD40 is not a lubricant.

would this be a direct replacement for the SF BOV? is it like a universal fit thing?

to fi r a greddy bov you would have to buy the greddy flange and weld it into the pipe

no crap, although you may think I'm not that stupid.....he needs to clean it. Depending on what the housing is made of (aluminum) I'm guessing, if the valve is brass as in the T-XS RFL when the two different metals rub they wear. You will see a black grime form on the brass/bronze plunger valve. CLEAN it with WD-40, not lubricate.....wow.....blow it out with pressurized air and re-assemble. I would keep the metal parts clean/dry and I would only recommend using lithium grease that comes in the spray can. Wipe off the excess. Use like a very light coat with your finger. Motor oil is too thick and heavy in my opinion. dirt and dust will cling to it...... But what do I know, this is just my advice......4drcivic2k1 seems to know it all.
