hey guys.. i just took off my lip kit and all that residue from the 3M 5 lb. double-stick tape is on my car and it is a freakin bish to get off. what is the quickest way to do this? i am currently heating it up with a hair dryer an tryin to scrub it off with a car wash sponge an soap but it is still taking forever. should i try adhesive remover or something? or will that damage the paint. help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz thanks

I took like 5 washclothes and strapped them around the end of a flathead screwdriver and "pushed" the glue off...my friend told me i was an idiot, i think he might be right.

This is the best suggestion out of the three. THe goo gone stuff should take out the glue residue. Only problem is its really strong, so when your spray it, wipe it off right away because if you let it sit there too long, it starts eating at your paint.

goo gone/goof off, a paper towel and a little bit of time. Do not use it on plastic parts. It will not eat paint. Clean it when you are done with a wet paper towel and may be some spray wax.

try out the meguir(sp?) paint cleaner first. its really good for taking out the glue thing from bumper stickers and its clear coat safe.
if its not strong enough, move on to goo gone.

3m makes an adhesive remover specifically for this purpose. 3M #6040

3M #6040 is safe for paint. So is 3M #38080. I'd be more suspicous of goo gone paint safety than the 3M stuff.

I had to take thi pin stripes off a car and the adhesive was removed with clear coat safe bug and tar remover. Try it out.

I'd say use the wd40 but not with a cloth. Instead put it on some paper and just rub away. It will get the glue of good. I used it when I got some sticky glueish stuff stuck on the side of my old bmw. It takes a long time...and u need to be patient but after a while u will slowly see ur efforts beginning to bear fruit. If u wanna speed it up really fast...use nailpolish. But if u use nail polish use a cloth...wipe quickly then wipe off with a wet towel. Nailpolish contains aceton which can eat **** away.

ive used goo-gone (the yellow liquid in bottle) bought from just about any hardware store and pour some of it on the sticky part, let it sit for couple seconds or min and start rubbing/scrubbing away. it'll still take awhile but it does the job if your patient.

btw, eventhough it doesnt eat paint or harm car paint(?), i suggest washing it off immediately and car soap it too.

you should use what i use to get sap off my car. denatured alcohol. you can find it at about any hardware store. with sap, it depends on the size of the drop. if it's all one bubble, takes a few wipes. if it's a smear, it comes right off! Your situation would be closer to the latter

i honestly wouldn't want to rub my car with a paper towel. i would recommend buying one of those micro fiber towers. Similar to the ones they use at car washes.
