Fiberglass Body Kits!

I have read around that sometimes they require a lot of work to put on. Is this tru, and is the quality really that much worse than polyeurathane?

Very true. Urethane has some flex in it, and it much more durable. Fiberglass cracks like crazy. Especially you living in st kitts, with the snow and all u'll be sorry. I had a fiberglass kit on my previous car and it was a nightmare.

Urathane will cost you alot more plus good luck finding a kit you like!. Fiberglass is fine I have no problems with them in the past. Urathane is a good way to go but, either way you get chips in the paint no matter where you live. Fiberglass is very rigid and can crack easy, hence you'll definetly have to watch where you park and stuff like that. good luck in any case.

urethane in hot climate can droop and rough roads can cause spider cracks in kit even with flex paint...

Poor quality fiberglass kits will be a pain in the rear to install, sometimes they won't fit exactly and some cutting/gluing/hole punching has to be made. Also it cracks way easier than urethane. Without $$$ in concern, go urethane but if you want to save, a good quality fiberglass kit would do the job. Good luck

The cold weather will make the fiberglass more brittle and will be easier to crack or damage. I picked up a fiberglass kit from VIS and the body shop still had to do a lot of work to make it fit properly. The main reason for these cracks to appear is that people dont take care when driving...

I disgree with the whether being an issue, people buy fiberglass windows for the reason that the whether doesnot effect them at all. But its mostly driving. Watching when you pull into a driveway that its not too steep (knowing your limits, in inches if need be). Parking blocks pot holes ...just stuff like that. Urathane will be brittle in the winter and soft in the summer.

people buy fiberglass windows because they're lighter.

Also, think about other drivers and all the rocks they throw up. a rock will crack the bumper instead of just making a chip in the paint.

I say go urethane, plain and simple. I just saw too many fiberglass kits get messed up so easily

UNORTHODOX02 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
The main reason for cracked fiberglass is the driving, the cold weather has nothing to do with it. I install/sell truck and car accessories, and i sell fiberglass running boardsand truck caps all the time. And I live in new england. its very cold around here. The steps hold up awesome, they're not as low as a body kit, but they do take a beating. all the rocks and stuff kick up from the front tires and bounce right off. Basically, its the driving. Like he said know your limits. fiberglass can take quite a beating, paint cant. Whatever you do, dont go the cheap route, get quality.
