HAWAII!!!! New Motorsport Complex READ!!!

Have you ever thought of seeing an IRL, D1, JGTC or Le Mans Series race right here in Hawaii? Have you ever visited race tracks like Laguna Seca or Indianapolis (Gran Turismo counts I guess) and wished that we had such a facility in Hawaii that we could play and learn at? Well, we've got a shot at one. Actually, it's right at our fingertips!

OK look people...we really need to GET OURSELVES out there to help HRP build a new WORLD-CLASS site in Kalaeloa!

For those of you who haven't read any of the other posts...this is the cliff's notes version of where we stand.

Basically, ALL of the groundwork, planning, investments etc. have already been planned and double-checked by many parties. What we have is a roughly $350+ million project that is for all intensive purposes ready to go! We've got a site (Kalaeloa Parcel 9), we've got an investment group and we've got the management all set. What we finally need...yes this is the final step...is to get a tax credit approved for this project in order to "loosen up the wallets" of the investors so that we can actually get the full funding necessary to make this place something special...not just a piece of land with a road and some bleachers!

In order to get the tax credit, we need to get a bill passed in the legislature and signed by the governor. This is an extremly hard process because of the broad range of committees and constituencies that are affected by such a project. The management team has worked really hard to get us to the point where we are on the doorstep to making this thing happen and all we have to do is RING THE DOORBELL!

For the last two years, we've had a bill going through the legislature on this very topic and it almost made it through.

Here it is: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/sessi...SB1619_HD2_.htm

What happened was that it got stuck in conference committee (when both the house and senate agree to it in their own forms and come to meet on it to take it to a final vote before the legislature...one of the final steps).

This year, it will be introduced again. Since much of the work has already been done on this bill...it will hopefully get through to conference committee again and on to becoming a law.

What we as enthusiasts and members of the community need to do to ensure that it makes it all the way through is to show our COMBINED SUPPORT for the bill by doing several things:

1. Show up to the President's Day Event at the Capitol see here http://www.forumshawaii.net/phpBB2/...der=asc&start=0

2. Write or Visit your legislator...right now! Here's how to find yours http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/site1...&press2=vstreet

3. Submit ORAL Testimony when the bill comes before committee...here's the guide http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/site1...fo&press2=guide

This is the time for us to make it happen. Not next year or five years from now...we gotta get it done THIS YEAR or maybe never. This has to be a grassroots movement (meaning every person standing up for it) to show support for the bill and for the new motorsports complex.

I will be posting this on every car club/organization site I can find in HI if you see a forum that I haven't posted on please feel free to do it for me. Thanks and SUPPORT THIS MOVEMENT!

The big island has some of the nicest cars Ive ever seen. Maui has some tight rides, but not like the big island. They need to build something for you guys. Id support it if I lived in hawaii. Good Luck! I got a question, is it legal to have any color headlights in Hawaii? Ive seen some crazy custom purple and blue headlights. I forget where it was. Right by Bubba Gumps on the big island. The little town. Looks sort of like Lahaina in Maui. But they got some nice sh**! good smoke too, hehe

Good stuff. You should post this in the Hawaii section at ClubRSX. Have you posted this on SpeedHawaii.net?

Are you talkig about the housing? Or the light output?

The housing is okay, as long as the reflective amber remains and reflects properly. As far as having different color lights... if it didn't come from the factory (HID's), then no it's not legal. I know some that have been pulled over because they installed the blue lightbulbs. But I've never heard of someone getting caught with aftermarket HID's.

The headlights Im talking about were on Hawaii (big island). I saw a 7thgen with all purple headlights. It looked like it was painted a clear purple instead of chrome. and I believe at night they would light up purple as well. It wasnt just the bulbs, they coulda been white bulbs though. I also saw a couple cars with blue headlights the same as the purple ones. They were driving in a group of like 15 or 20 cars. And they were some siiiiiick a** cars. I think I was gettin some paka when they drove by, hehe.

Oahu might not have a track at all since Hawaii Raceway Park's lease is up in 2006 (Campbell Estate wants the land back, right?)

Sucks .

yeah that bites pretty bad. We could use a nice new facility but the government is so gay. We should all go street racing to prove to them that if they close the raceway park there will be more illegal street racing, muahhahahah! The government is so stupid. K another thing that i thought was stupid was that you know the number they write on your window when you go to the tracks, yeah i heard it's illegal to have that on your car outside of the park. Not for hindering the driver's view but for being an "incentive for street racing". That's just dumb! If anything the cars with the numbers on their car should be applauded for not participating in street racing. SO retarded.

Seriously though, we 7th gens need to start a car club in hawaii. I'm not much of an organizer though so someone else has to start one then I'll definately join. (sorry small kine lazy) But yeah, I'm down for meeting up with a cruise sometime. All the 7th gens should have a cruise sometime so we can talk and organize something. We should plan one and then I'm pretty sure that everyone here knows of some other people who have 7th gen civics but don't go on this forum so we should all tell them about it and then we should go cruise. We need a good meeting spot though. I went to couple racesause cruises and the popos were all over each meeting point. So crapy. What about Ward Jamba? Let me know what you think guys.

Little of subject, but did ne of you guys ever go through likelike lately, man that's a nice road to drive on now. I like the straight away there. So smooth compared to the rest of the roads on Oahu. You guys should check it out if you didn't already.
