Max tire size when you are really slammed!

OK,

My 01 coupe is really slammed. 6" in the front and 5" in the rear. It has ground control springs all around. I race it a Bonneville and currently use goodyear frontrunners (skinnies) all around on steelies with moon caps. I'm sick of it. I know it's more efficient but I just can't warm up to the look. So I'm going to get rims.

I really like the Motegi Track-Lite forged wheels, 17x7 with a +42 offset. So the question is, how wide can I go on tires without rubbing? I am actually more concerned about the rear than the front since I dont turn much and *never* hit a bump while turning. The car is really low. Is a +42 offset enough?

The tire diameter has to be at least 24" or my gearing will go to hell. I was thinking of 205-50 Proxies. Do you guys think I will have a problem?

Thanks

if you are dropped that much i would say 205-40 would be the biggest you could do. i am only dropped about 2.5 and a 205-50 would rip my fenders off

dude its not possible to drop a civic 6" in front and 5" in back... even w/ bags and car is on ground thats too low.. i.e. go to a stock civic and measure 6" less in front and 5" less in rear and its negatively on the ground.. lets say u got... 3" drop all around... BTW why do you have skinnies in the front if its FWD aret u losing traction...post pics of your car cause everythings contradicting itself

ALSO DROPPING A CAR= good because ur lowering the center of mass lower to the ground but anything over 2.5 is actually hurting the car and worsening your handling because your putting too much stress on joints and bearings...

pleaqse post pics as i stated.. what kinda shocks u running?

best wheel to get would be a work/rota/mugen/spooon motegi are kinda heavy even the "track lites"

Yes, lowered 6" in the front and 5" in the rear. Yes it is possible. No it does not hit the ground. There is still almost 1" below the sub-frame when on a perfectly flat surface. I have to raise the car to do *anything* with it.

The photo linked to by AzNFoRLiFe was it at SEMA this year and it normally sits about 2" lower than that once we get it on the track and adjust the coilovers down to race settings. Normally the front spoiler has less than 1" clearance from the ground but you can see from the pics that it is much higher there.

I put on my old 17x7 +38 rims last night with 215-40's and set the car down to race height and was already getting contact on the rears. The fronts were fine as long as I didnt turn the wheel too much. Thats OK since I dont when I running.

I think that going to the +42 offset and getting the smaller 205-50's will cure the rear sidewall contact problem as well as get me the 24" diameter I need. Anbody see any issues I missed?

Thanks,

It looks better with the rims, even the old Enkies that are on it for fit checks. It's going back together right now with the GT35R turbo and the new dry sump system. Going for 200 MPH sustained speed!
