valve seal change

Can anyone tell me how to change the valve seals. I have a compression leak in my #3 cyl and it is steady wet and dry tested so it is not the rings. Also my valve it tapping cause I detonated in that cyl. Some one help.

You sure its the valve seals? Do a leakdown test and you'll be able to tell for sure before you rip into the valvetrain, it'll save you some time.

leakdown test what the cyl? did the compression test on it wet and dry and it was the same. if it was the rings it would have been different wet to dry. And I know the head gasket is good I just changed it a little while back.

A leakdown test will allow you to pinpoint where the leak is by listening for escaping air, and comparing how much leakage there actually is. It screws into the spark plug hole just like a compression tester. You then hook it up to an air compressor and go from there.

just cause you changed a head gasket awhile back doesnt mean it is still good. You cant make guesses on stuff, you have to investigate. You could put a brand new part in one day and it will go bad the next day.

I did a pressure check on the coolant system and it checked good. no smoke. really rich smell comming from the exhaust though. no oil in the cyl. no abnormal pressure from the crank case breather but exesive oil and pressure comming out of the valve cover breather. Have to pull off the valve cover today and look for a bad valve spring or bent valve. #3 exaust valve is tapping. I'll do the leakdown also to make sure. Thanks. no help on how to change the seals though.

Most parts stores will have a leakdown tester to borrow or buy, if not I know where to find one.

I can also help you change the valve seals if that is determined to be the problem.
