Hey guys,


The Suspension FAQ was a bit misleading for me. One poster said the 03+ vics use the 16mm but another poster said it is completely random. Is there a definitive answer to this question or do I need to check the mount myself to find out? If so, what's the easiest and problem-free way to determining the strut mount size? TIA

I have the 05 EX Coupe btw.

03+ is 14mm, 01-02 is 16mm. If you are talking about the strut HOUSING size for the konis, then that you have to measure. That will either be 50 or 55mm.

All shocks, except for konis, are made for a 2001-2002, so the mount bolts are 14mm not 16mm like in the 2003+. Either you will have to drill them out or hope that the company makes a set for you guys. The can be put on your 2003+ but you run the risk of the mount bolts coming loose and the shock changing camber. There is a rumor that tokico has made 2003+ shocks for the blues, but I am not sure yet.

And this is done by measuring the distance between each bolt at the top of the strut, right? If not, can you clarify? Sorry I'm a fresh n00b straight out of the box

Hrmm.. I thought the 01-02 were 14mm and the 03+ are 16mm. This is for the bolt holes that connect the steering knuckle to the strut housing. For the Koni's, you have to measure the diameter of the strut housing.

oh, i just remembered, some person on this site has KYB AGX's on his 04. he said he didnt have to make the holes any bigger.

Sorry my bad, I got them mixed up. Even mods can be wrong....wait no I can't
01-02 = 14mm
03+ = 16mm

You can measure the bolt if you take it out but that would be a pain.

So there's no way to find out if I need the 50mm or the 55mm without taking it off? Damn that sucks.

You can, you just have to jack up your front end and use a caliper measuring tool. Or you can call up Koni and they'll walk you through how to measure it using a piece of string. Basically, you wrap the string around the strut housing and then divide the length by 3.14, which will give you the diameter. You should end up with a number that is close to 50 or 55. I bet if you call Koni up they'd probably just tell you what you have without even having to measure..
