yet another swap question...
has anyone on this site done an engine swap on a lease?, whether or not, would i have to go back to honda once i get the swap? i think i remember hearing something about them having to reflash the ecu, but if i get an ecu with swap doesnt that cancel this out?, im 90% sure that im going to buy after i lease, but just incase i dont, i want to make sure that if i do a swap that i will be able to put the old engine back into to the car no questions asked, any informed input?

good lord that would be a waste. are you talking about a k-series swap? you would pour tons of time into doing, then undoing, a swap. let alone money. you're better off ditching the lease any way you can and BUYING a different car than swapping a lease.
you better be 100% sure that you are keeping ur car, if u are doing a swap. Just the labor and parts will cost you 7000+ (i hope you know that) to put the engine in. Remember if you decided to put ur d17 back, $$$$$$$$$$$$.
thanks for the concern everyone, but im almost positive that im going to keep if after the lease anyway but im a precautious person so i want to know a lot of my options......
lol, that would be plain stupid to do, if i did the swap and decided to give it back that would just be something down the line that i would cut my losses for i guess, but my cousin and myself plan on putting the swap in, maybe with the help of another friend who's swapped a few dsm motors of his own......i dont plan on paying a shop so im not worried about labor, in fact after i do mine i was planning on doing my girl's car too...but i still havent gotten an answer to my original question tho, about having to show honda if i dont want to??
by the way, i just got the car in may, so after this march(swap time) i would have another two years before i had to worry about taking it out if i chose to)and the plan was to get a k20a3 setup for no more than 2000-2500 and then if i feel the need for more speed a little later to boost that, all together we shouldnt be talking more than $5000 or so right? and in the end wont that give me more power than the a2 {
} for the same price if not less?

you wouldnt have to reflash the ecu since you'd be running the swap's ecu(a2/a3/etc).....IMO you'd be better off doing a k24 w/the 5 or 6 speedout of a rsx, and run hodata k-pro. Also, as mentioned you could opt for hondata k-pro and tuning for optimal power. Hopes that helps some.

thanks for the input all,
but to the last one..i heard that the crv motor tho it has more torque would be more of a hassle in terms of plug and play i.e. leading to more money to slap down to make it work right, [and i got that info from this site as a matter of fact
], and since all together i wanted to spend 5 grand or so via a3 + boost to equal upwards of the k20a2 [correct me if im wrong] wouldnt the k24 be more costly for the power?

pending on where you get your parts, there is a k24 block on ebeay for 300, and a type s head for 350. Running off the type-s ecu and type s 6 speed w/ITR cams, this combo made sumthin like 198hp, 175ft/lbs, with a compression ration of 9.8:1(perfect for that extra boost), the only problem you run is getting the lower hasport mounts so yuo dont have to notch the hood for p/s, and with the longer stroke you cant tach as high, but your power and torque curve are hella solid. You could alway boost in the future, or run a lil spray in the intake to get yuor kick of extra ponies
sorry to revive the old topic, but due to johnny's slick talk and a little research of my own ive been persuaded into the k24/20a2 hybrid swap now...which is my final answer, this brings up some new questions tho...
1)i'm assuming from what you said that the k24 and type s - 6 speed tranny would fit accordingly right? [being as tho they are both k related?
]
2)also im looking into right now whether or not, even tho im buying the car at lease end, if Honda would still penalize me for violations of warranty(like custom stuff, miles, beefed up engine
..etc, say this is the case and i swapped and temporarily put the old one back in, in 2 years, would they be able to tell that another engine was in the car ??

As far as noticing the motor was swapped the returned to stock, they shouldnt notice as long as the tech's do a good job on the swap...we built a badass CRVtec crx, when we sold the rex we put the dooky little 1.5 back in and no one even gave it a second thought when looking @ the engine bay...
Hope that helps bro....

BTW - Hasport is supposed to have their new motor mounts out so the k24 block sts lower in the engine bay(used to have to notch out the hood previously)
beautiful,yes youve helped out plenty, hasport comin through in time,.... any chance you could tell me where you got the info of that jackson racing civic, and was it (ex or si)?, i'd like to look into that myselfTKO
