Nakamichi !

Thinking about doing an all Nakamichi system in my 04 civic. I want to hear about any experience you have with their car audio products or any thoughts you have on them. I think they are a great company who doesn't get the attention they deserve, but I don't have any real life knowledge of their car audio products. Post pics of your Nak installs if you have them.

Stay away, Nakamichi as in the Jap co. is no more. The name was bought out by a new co. calling themselves NakUSA. STAY AWAY!!! They are just now starting to rebuild the Nak name in the US. And again, STAY AWAY!

do you have any reason for your "STAY AWAY" warning? Where and when did you hear about this?

like what? I can't even find this "New stuff" you speak of. Are you saying that their CD-400 HU is crap? I've only heard good things about it. As far as I know there has always been a U.S. division of Nakamichi, and yes their products have differed from the Japanese products, but nonetheless were excellent. I may be way off base here, I don't really know, this is only my knowledge. Please try to provide a more convincing arguments to support your opinions

If your referring to their Soundspace home products when you say their "new stuff" sucks. Then yes I would have to agree they suck, although they are inovative, I would rather see classic Nak quality components.

Rx7_Fan has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I would say the Soundspace 5 is very good for its size. My friend got one, yes, someone gave it to him (retail around $850). I heard it in person, and for its size it was very well balanced. It's exremely light which enable you to hang it on the wall. The stereo unit probably could hang with B&O but sound quality wise, B&W would probably be better then both of them.

P.S.
Why am I talking about home entertainment in this forum?

i feel like a nakamichi spokesperson

mycurrent setup...
Nakamichi CD400 (being sold want the CD700 now)
Nakamichi 6.5" components in doors
Nakamichi 6x9s in the rear
Nakamich SP 12" sub in the trunk
Only thing that isnt Nakamichi is the amp(Ultimate) and the tweeters(Infinity)

As far as the CD400 is concerned I am very happy with the quality and performance of this deck.. The sound is amazing. Everything is so clear you just have to hear it. Im selling my cd400 for 200 shipped.. pm if you interested.

How do the Nak speakers sound? I was thinking about going all Nak and getting nearly the same setup as you. Do you have the speakers amped or are they running off the HU? I want a nice full sounding system. Nothing to show off or thump, just great sound. Hows the Nak sub? Would love to see some pics if you have them. Why are you selling the HU if you like it so much?
Sorry for all the questions, its just that reviews and info on Nak components are few and far between.

they speakers are running off the head unit..they are loud enough without an amp.. would be pretty sweet though. they do sound great but its mostly the deck that does it.. walmart speakers would probably sound awesome. the sub is cool.. hits pretty nicely.. just dont like the rattling i get from the trunk. im selling the deck cuz i wanna get either the nak cd700 or an alpine with mp3 playing ability.

hey XSR, do the Nak 6 x9's fit in the rear without modifications? Apparently few speakers actually fit back there because the mounting depth is too deep.. I'm trying to find some 6x9's that will fit without too much work. If the Naks fit, it will probably seal the deal on my decision.

yeah they will fit with some modification.. the shop that did mine had to use some spacers to make them fit good cuz of the mounting depth.. dont know what they used but yes modification is necessary. install was a bitch too took them 4 hours to get it all hooked up with 2 people working on it.

alex053 will become famous soon enough
they were always overpriced and lived off of the name in the speaker and amp arena. i belive they outsourced the speakers building to morel...same as Xtant did and a few other companies. amps always had a large footprint with not alot of adjustment or power for the size

the decks are awesome though.
