nakamichi decks?
nakamichi decks?
I was looking at the Nakamichi CD-500 cd player found here and I was wondering if anybody knows if I'll be able to see that display during the day with the angle in our dash the way it is. Thanks!

Yeah, I have the llumar platinum plus tint or whatever it is. The metallic tint. I really like that headunit, but being able to see the display is kind of an important thing to me.

i know nak is a good brand and used the 45z and my buddy had the MB700 (broke 3 times) but for that price you can get decks of just as good quality with more freatures. educate me on this deck

just do the OEM faceplate DIY if you are worreid about it being stolen.
nak is fine. but i pay more for features... features i will use. the fact is that deck will have an output almost as clean as every other aftermarket deck over $150 out there.

I dunno about that, doesn't it require hacking up the OEM stereo? I would like to be able to pull my headunit from my car if I sell it, especially if I go high end on the head unit.
So is the general consensus that I'll be able to see the CD-400 in my dash just fine? Is there anybody who has installed this and knows for sure? Also, if anybdoy has this unit or has used this unit, how are the controls? Is it smooth to use it does it take a long time to load between tracks and such?

like ive said before, and ill say again... a headunit is a headunit is a headunit... unless youre comparing jensen to a pioneer dex-p9($1000), then you wont hear a difference

running through an RTA line......but even then, the difference will be slight. But u won't notice difference with the human ear.
you would be able to see the display on the CD400. i have a 45Z and could see it fine in my civic. as for hearing a difference between other HUs....
My nak sounds better than my Clarion (it's a clarion with the dual 24bit DAC). and much better than an old sony i had.

yeah, I think I've decided to get one. I like how simple and boring they look. Sure the organic el displays are cool and all but I had one before and I just find them distracting more than anything. The naks are simple, boring, bland, and sound amazing from everything I've heard.

Let us know how you like it when you get it. I've wanted a 45Z for years, and for the last few months have almost bought a 400 several times. My stock system is starting to suck and needs rebuilt.
Well I've done EVERYTHING else to my system to make it very good with the exception of the headunit. I've been being very stubborn about keeping my stock headunit because I'm very afraid something flashy will just get stolen. Not many people are aware though of the quality of nakamichi decks and it just looks so bland and stock that I'm not really worried about somebody stealing it. The fact that it will sound amazing is a big plus... haha... I will definately let you know how I like it, XSRCivic and NitehawkVtec have both given it wonderful reviews which has encouraged me to try it as well.... special thanks to them! Thanks everybody!

I'm actually in the EXACT same situation. A lot of the time my car is parked in a rather bad neighborhood. In an effort to attract less attention, I've already returned my car to almost completely stock, and I've got a decent alarm on it. However, when I'm in the car for the occasional road trips to various corners of the state, I'd like something decent to listen to.

Nakamichi decks are what Lexus use in their cars. (or use to use.. they use Mark Levinston now).
Great decks! Sound quality is amazing on these decks but they're a bit behind in terms of asthetics.
Aren't Nakamichi decks the ones that use LCDs (the same thing you have on your digital watch... so you'll have no problem seeing it during the day.
Just remember to have the backlight on at night or you'll see nothing in the dark.

I live in Plano, I got my tint done at Pro-Tint off of Preston road. I think they're actually in Dallas though not plano. They are off Preston Road just South of 190 (George Bush Turnpike) near beltline I think.
Here, just looked online, this is where I got it done...
Pro Tint
17423 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75252
Phone: (972) 713-6861
Honda Cars of Mckinney recommends all of their customers to that place for tint so they do a lot of hondas. I'm very happy with the work they did, looks very nice. And the price seemed right.

Anybody know what the difference is supposed to be between the CD 400, CD-45z, and CD-35z? I know the 400 has user selectable colors as oppose to having to buy it as a green or amber display. But in terms of sound quality and controls does anybody know what the other differences are?
